Ok

I play regular MP. Everytime we have to rehost to pick up players I must reset my computer beofre reloading the game or else as soon as it loads it will crash to desktop.

It only ever happens like this.

Another one is when I'm playing SP. If I accidently click the wrong option on an event I will laod the autosave. This almost always crashes. Only when I load the autosave not if I load a previous saved game.

Are these common problems or just my stupid PC?

In both cases, you are exiting the current game being played and starting again from the first menu? Loading a save while within a game being played is always troublesome.

So theres nothign I can do to fix it then?

The first one could be a video problem, This bug is still around although it only effects very few systems now. You do have the AVI folder renamed to AVI_back right? That solves most of the graphics problems.
But as Andrew says it is always advisable to atleast go back to the main srcreen before loading a save.

I have edited my AVI file.

Its like this. A player drops form our game so the host says got back to valkryie and we'll rehost. Ok so I quit the game. Back to the main screen back into multilayer screen then to Valkryire. I have crashed abput 5 times after doing this. Should I shut ,y game down then reload it maybe?

See if it makes a difference, However you may have to reboot in order to reset your system fully. :(

So we've eliminated one possible problem. Now check for updates to your video, sound, and lan drivers.

I have all the latest drivers.

I had to get my computer de virused a while ago at a computer store and they did it for me. The drivers that is/:D

Can you give us your system specs?

I've had that problem before in Valnet...The best thing to do when the player exits and you have to restart, exit the game completely, and then restart the game before going back to valnet. That should keep you from crashing again. Doesn't really take all that long, and it is faster than having to reboot the entire system.

I noticed when I was doing Valnet that when a player crashes and you get booted back to the screen that sometime not everything 'disconnects', so to speak. That is why I always exited the game completely before going back into Valnet.

Reloads within the game even in single player are problematic.

System specs?

How do I find those out?:eek:o

Just looking for Operating system, CPU brand and model, amount of memory, Video card brand and model, Audio card, modem, that kind of thing.

I have Windows ME

An Intel Pentium III 866

20gig memory

128meg ram

A Nividia Riva TnT2 graphics card

Sound Card and everything else

Ouch ouch ouch. Lots of problems there. BTW you have a 20gb hard disk, NOT 20gb of memory :)

WinME is a total dog of an OS. Any chance of upgrading to win2000 or winXP?

128mb of memory is barely enough for EU2. Make sure you kill every other program you have running before firing up EU2, and see if you can expand to at least 256mb, preferably more. If you do go to a newer OS you'll need more too.

Run eu2_settings.exe and turn sound off to eliminate the sound card as your problem.

And you're sure your nVidia drivers are the latest?

Well since the problem is only when trying to reload without a reboot, If you cannot afford an upgrade you can go through the hassle of the reboot.

Well I wont be upgrading for a few years at least.

I have no money for computers:(

Oh well I'll put up with it then.

Thanks all the same Castellon and AndrewT, I appreciate it.:)

All part of the service. :)
