Ok, I left this game for a month in order for Paradox to have enough time to fix all the issues with what must be the most bug-ridden launch since Windows XP. I came back to find a new patch and loaded it through steam. The F@*^& game still will not work. I am very tempted to write up a report and forward it to any game magazines or e-zines I can find warning people away from this and any other Paradox titles. I am not willing to spend the rest of the day trawling through the forum and uninstalling and reinstalling this game, so can a moderator or techie get in touch and tell me how to make this game WORK!! Otherwise give me contact details for your PR department so I can complain and request my money back. I am not an IT specialist so don't tell me how to rewrite code etc. and if you want to see the issues I had a month ago, simply do a search under my handle listed above.

I have wasted enough time on this now, I am very angry and disappointed and you have lost a return customer.

Ok, I got it working now by unplugging the HDMI cable and replacing it with a VGA. But it does not look as crisp as I would like and frankly, if I am going to pay a premium price for a game, it should be able to handle HDMI, especially in an age where tv's and monitors are quickly becoming synonimous.
It has been two weeks since this issue was first brought up and nothing has been found to resolve it nor has anyone said if any work is being done toward that effect. I hope this isue is quickly resolved so that I don't have to keep switching the cables out of the back of my PC.

Are you saying that the game now does not work at all for you? I'll be happy to help further if you want it. It is acknowledged that the HDMI bug is not yet resolved; it was actually supposed to be in 1.04c but something went wrong backstage and that change didn't get in. I would expect 1.05 to fix it.

I realise you are just saying it out of frustration, but it is flat-out not true to say that CK2 was a badly bug-ridden launch. It's been pretty universally acclaimed as the least buggy PI product on launch in anyone's memory.

Haha and this game has got to be the most smooth, bug free release PI have ever done! Usually, such as with Vic2 or EU3, I had to stop playing for a month or so and await patches to correct balance issues and game breakers. For CK2, I've played solidly since release with little to no issues.

FYI, I also use an HDMI cable and have no issues. Personally, I reckon a significant portion of so called "bugs" are actually user problems...

i think hdmi was never a problem. the refresh rate was the real one. in hoi3 it cannot be below 60hz. i suspect it is the same here.

In EU3 original it had to be 60, at some point (an NA patch IIRC) they dropped that requirement to 50.

Have you any evidence that's what's happening here? Because I would have thought I would have noticed if all the HDMI reports had <50 or <60 refresh rates.

As others have said, this launch was probably Paradox's smoothest. I would wholeheartedly agree with you though if you started playing the game with version 1.03 or newer. By and large, the developers' efforts to update this game since release have amounted to a colossal pooch-screw. In all my years with Paradox, I've never seen so much ill-conceived, poorly tested garbage make it into live release. Not really sure why things are being handled so poorly, considering the game itself is probably the studio's masterpiece.

Damn straight. THIS GAME has been Paradox's greatest release with minimal and no game breaking bugs since sliced bread back in the Mideval ages or was that cheese Toast? You would be LYING if you said the RELEASE version was the MOST bug ridden game since Microsoft Windows XP and I would be a witness for the defense of this game even though Paradox have had some really bad releases (HOI III *cough*)
