101st is literally a liability to a team game the Thunderbolts cant 1 shot any tank has to 2 shot Panzer 4-Stugs The only strength 101st has is planes and with more then half of German decks getting 88s you can stun them before they do any damage easily then making the 101st player useless. If your AA net is being overwhelmed its your fault the P-47s cost double or even triple what an AA piece costs you giving you also money for cheap fighters. you get the advantage in the air then. and dont even say 101st can arty the enemy AA you will not be able to afford Infantry for a fight, Anti tank guns for tanks, and then have planes, then have enough money buy the 2 worst artillery pieces in the game. And even if you do they can just counter arty with better and longer ranged artillery.
The only strengths of the 101st
Infantry (wich sometimes feels weak.) Useless outside of buildings.
Planes wich only stun. can literally be shut down with a few AA pieces and some cheap fighters.
Weaknesses,
Tanks are weak and abysmal ,it is an airborne deck so i understand, AT guns will just destroy you and your only counter is planes wich again get stunned easily.
Anti tank LOL 1 vet AT guns nice and there only 37/57 so Tigers and Panthers can just lol while they pick them off and the Wolverine is decent but you only get 2 that areworth anything
Artillery is just horrible and having to rely on offmap feels dirty and broken
M8 scott is the only support gun that can stun AT guns and it most of the time dies before it can do that. and its phase B...
Then really a non strength or weakness is decent AA nothin special but nothing bad either.
but i really wouldnt change anything outside of making there Strengths do more. There is a reason why German units only moved at night it was because of the P-47 Thunderbold or the Typhoon. Any decent sized German formation would have been bombed/rocketed into oblivion if they moved during the day, Ingame they just shrug it off and move forward. Bombs if the 230 point airplane cant kill a 140-180 point tank in 1 go it should be able to destroy its track mess up the gun or atleast cause crew crits. Alot of tanks that got bomber could be fixed but the shockwaves from the bombs killed or injured crews this is still a problem even today and was common in Iraq and Afghanistan with IEDs same concept applies.
To make a P-47 usefull you need 2 or 3 of them 230 points just to kill a AT gun or light vehicle is really expensive and if you have 690 points in 3 bombers they can have 4 88s and some fighters for that price. And a 101st player isnt usually gonna have just 3 planes so it spends more points on planes that can be shut down by a few AA pieces
FIX? make the planes actually kill stuff the Fighters are fine leave them be but the bombers need buffed theres no reason why you need to spend 460+ points to kill tanks when the Germans can do it easily for 180-200 points(not complainging about the HS-129 or JU-87). Its dumb that you can spend most of your money on planes and they dont really do anything aside for kill light stuff when in reality it would be halting the entire advance. German players should be scared when a P-47 is out not lol shoot it with percision AA and stun it.
Honestly a few changes would make a hell of alot of differance for the 101st without making the OP or changing there flavor
P-47D bomber being able to crit tanks like detrack or crew injure would be nice while not outright killing them altho things like the Panzer 2-3 Should probably just be 1 shot by them... Also make the P-47 Resiliance good or very good as it had a reputation for taking huge hits and still flying. I mean the Storch a plane thats canvas and wood has the highest resiliance...
And since the P-51D bomber got nerfed to 1 per card giving it 2 230 KG bombs would be nice. I might make a small post on that. (of course this would slow the plane down a little.)
