One of my biggest issues with ck2 from a mechanical standpoint is that your dynasty is almost never in danger. This lasted for the entirety of its post-game development. For all the articles that bigged it up as a battle to sustain and expand your dynasty, the whole "sustaining" part was basically none existent. The biggest threats in the entirety of my time playing were independence revolts, which are mostly more of an inconvenience than anything.
In real history dynasties were displaced all the time, yet there was no real mechanism to represent this in ck2. Hell, the ere needed to be made elective in order to avoid the makedons ruling for 700 years. Claimants are rare and often take the form of adventurers, which don't even let vassals pick a side.
I wanna feel like I'm actually fighting for survival. Hopefully a new game will allow them to accomplish that.
