Information

I have disabled all mods

Yes

Required

Summary

i initially thought that i got black texture was when re-doing assets in the asset editor, but then checked with a new asset - the same

Expected Result

So, obviously with the permission of the original asset creator (for an asset that was meant to be published), or without it when creating it for myself and testing purposes, I tried dumping the asset to the game import folder (using Modtools mod), and creating a hotel out of a unique building. As it worked with previous expansions: Industries or Sunset Harbour (when doing warehouses, post offices or fishing harbours), I didn't expect much of the problem.

Actual Result

Instead, what I got was a completely black texture. I've tried it a few times, even without any mods when uploading the asset in asse editor, I have tried with some older assets - all were getting back texture when trying to make hotels out of them (for the Hotels and resorts DLC). On top of that, the problem doesn't appear to be in the asset editor (the colours are there as normal), but when you start the game and want to plop that hotel on the map.
So i did a test and changed them to a warehouse and a bakery - that came without any problems, the texture was the same as original assets.

Steps to reproduce

Using Modtools mod dump any chosen building asset from the workshop that would be suitable to change to a hotel, and try re-uploading them in the asset editor (all works fine so far), and then open a game (new one or a current one) and plop that hotel building.
Edit: Actually - create any new asset with a white bit in a colour map - that bit will become black when you load the game and plop the asset.
That is the case with CO assets too: Small Hotel, Town Hostel, Budget Hotel, Design Hotel - all those that use white bits in a colour map, or if they had none provided (so the game created its own fully white one).

Platform

Steam

Game Version

1.17.1-f4

Optional

Description

As above - Trying to do it for the Hotels DLC. I made an asset for Financial DLC but for that I had received original files from the asset creator, So I wasn't using Modtools mod, but I can certainly test if that has the same problem.
I now know it's a problem with reading colour map for Hotels DLC assets, icluding CO own assets :)
It doesn't seem to affect DLC's props though, the seats at the table change their colours.

And I've found the problem - it's the white colour used in _c (colour) map.
I just tested it creating a completely new hotel asset out of one of my old assets - and its roof has gone black completely, while the rest of the texture remained as designed. Something was telling me from the beginning that it must be the colour map.
I have got back to those 2 dumped models (using Modtools mod), and had to change their colour maps to complete black - so no colour variation allowed.

And it helped - those models above have normal colorful textures now. My original model that I have added to testing has colour variation allowed for the roof... now if I wanted to make it a hotel for the Hotels DLC - I have to remove/block colour variation by using black colour map.

Any solution to that?

What color do you have selected for the Hotel Chain?

Oh my... are you joking? much ado about nothing? :D:D just tested those "failed" assets, I see how it works now (could have been put out there somewhere ;)) - thanks for the advice.

No problem! At least it means the color mask works, even if it covers the entire building in those cases.
