I bought the game today through steam and haven't been able to get it to work. I have read through fixes and tried them but was unable to make them work. Sometimes it flashes white and then the crash report box comes up, other times it acts as a background process but there is no activity. Please help.

We have updated our Community Code of Conduct. Please read through the new rules for the forum that are an integral part of Paradox Interactive’s User Agreement.
This is a common issue since the latest patch. They now about it and are working on an hotfix.
Until then, you can "downgrade" your game to version 1.03 via Steam > Properties > BETA (There you can choose any version you want. Like i said, the last one working for everyone was 1.03. But you should play in vanilla without any mods, because most of them are already running in version 1.1.2.
*Edit: I just went throug your logs, and voila...i found this:

That's your problem, like mine and of all the others

I was able to get it to start by changing to the launch version and running as admin. Thanks for your help!
