Sorry if this issue was posted elsewhere in some context.

I have been playing England in the 1066 campaign.

What I have been running into is (having taken over most of England and Wales) one of my demensces (Heresford I think is the name) keeps getting "taken over" by foreign rulers without benefit of us going to war over it.

This is an area that I rule directly (not through a vassal)...all of a sudden I'll look over and some foreign army is standing on it, and I'll find out it belongs to some other ruler now. It's always a weird one too...it won't be Ireland or Scotland, or anyone I actually have conflict with, but all of a sudden The Prince of Vladmir or somethign will own that province. Very frustrating.

Otherwise great and addicting game.

That is a strange bug, never heard or encountered it
 
Are you saying that there is no war between you and Prince of Vladmir or somethign but he can take your provinces?

The only way I can imagine this happening is that you are not aware that you are at war with them and that the enemy is pagan or muslim. Can you send the army to fight them, or the armies ignore each other?

Maybe a Russian Version of the Treaty of Tordesillas? :p

No there was nor is no war...I can't retake the province without declaring war on the power that took control of it.

This has happened several times with various kingdoms...at least one was a Christian bishopric in germany, so it's not just Muslim or Pagan lands doing this.

It was always the same county, Heresford, which is inland a bit.

Grrr....
 
Hmm...how long has this province been part of your personal Demense? I once witnessed a strange occurrance where the count of a province defected to another court. The Count's province then appeared to be the possession of the leader of the court he was in. Check your courtiers to see if the Count of Hereford is there.
 
But he says he loses a province that is part of his demesne, losing a province of a vassal could be explained by inheritance. Though the Prince of Vladimir inheriting Hereford is pretty strange to

Yes, But I'm speculating that one possibility is that a bugged event has caused the count of Hereford to defect into his court, thus making Hereford appear to be part of his demesne, whereupon the Prince of Vladimir takes the title of Hereford and it appears to have gone straight out of his demesne.

It's a long shot, but maybe...

Yes, that could happen, but it should be very rare and according to him it happens every time
