(The Imp-Advisor was a Lord available as a perk selection if you had the "Powerful Lords" DLC in Warlock 1.)

I poked about in the editor, and the I.A. is still a unit as far as the game is concerned. Is it correct that I can't alter the GM trait selections without unpacking a file into XML?

Would I need to repack it after tinkering with the XML?

Finally, is there an existing template to add starting units via trait picks?

Thanks for any help!

Should be doable by someone who knows how to add GM perks via xml, it also sounds like it will be possible in the editor once they fix the bug that makes faction perks not visible in it.

Has paradox ever called the inability to edit GM perks a "bug?"

Because it is extremely difficult to think Ino-Co got the rest of the editor functioning and polished and just happened to miss GM perks. As others have pointed out, it is more likely the functionality was never planned to prevent DLC overlap.

Anyway, I'm resigned to having to mess about in the XML. I just don't know how to get to the XML or what to add, sadly...

I can verify that this is a known issue, currently fraction perk (i.e. in-game perks that applies to a great mage) currently don't show up in the list to edit, and created ones will also not be shown. They will still be saved properly if created, so it seems to be a display issue (though still annoying as they cannot be edited). It's already been reported and is one of many things being worked on. =)

For the other questions, I'll see what I can find.

It sounds to me as though it was unintentional.

If you don't change the lord's s_unitType from UniqueHero or Hero to ImprovementHero, a fractionImprovement lord won't show in the lords menu in game once you get it. I'm not seeing in your version that you changed the unit to reflect that.

Edit: Also, as yours is an unpublished draft, it's not in a .pack format, and draft mods will only show up in the mod list and editor in game, for the owner. The owner number is the first part of the filename after the m before the underscore. That is also referenced in the .info file.

You need to package it up in a .pack or people will need to hand-edit your .info file

Tnx, pintocat, I haven't read about mod exporting yet.

There is no need to change anything conserning unitType, neither add anything besides the line to fractionImprovements section as we're not adding smth new, just enabling what is already there.
It's easier and work fine

Maybe, i'm not interpreted right and you ment that in my case such a lord won't show up in game as a random lord when he is selected in perks?

I know the unit will appear in game when you select the perk. But does the imp show up in the Lords panel in game for you once you've started the new game with the perk selected? The one where you give artifacts etc. Because what I found is that a lord won't appear in the lord menu to assign artifacts, if they're a perk, unless you change their s_unittype.
