I'm trying to play as Prussia in the GC. My question is, what should I do? I'm just sitting around and advancing my technology. Who should I attack to get bigger? If I attack Courland the Teutonic Order will crush me because Courland is their vassal. If I attack Poland I will be wiped off of the map. There's noone else to attack unless I want to launch an amphibious attack on the Hanseatic Leage, but I don't want to do that. To make matters worse, I'm not a member of an alliance. I want to become a part of Russia's or Austria's but the 'Join Alliance' button is greyed out! Is this because I'm a vassal of Poland?

HELP!! WHAT SHOULD I DO!?

Prussia

When i played Prussia,it was no problem to made alliances,i dont understand.FIrst you must take Courland, they got no alliances and in all cases i played Prussia the teutonic Order doesnt declared war to me.So first take Courland, then the teutonic order. You must wait with Poland. They dont attack you until you are their vassal. So if you be strong enough, then attack them.if you attack,Poland must be at war with a strong enemy(turkey...).if Poland is at war with Turkey, there are no polish troops at your border. So invade very fast with much infantry and run them down.Take very fast Posen(rich) and DAnzig(!!!!!) then Podlasia(capital of Poland). After that contact them and get Posen,DAnzig and 250d.Thats it.

Yes, and there are only two ways out. Declare war on Poland or change religion (I think that works too).

I suggest learing at least the basics of the game by playing one of the majors before even taking on such a mamoth task as mastering a 1 province nation that starts out as a vassal of one of the majors...

As a matter of fact...

I have played most of the majors, actually. I have done two GCs as England. One where I came 2nd place in VPs and another where I was 1st. then I played as Austria and managed to survive to the end with 3rd place in VPs. With the others I wasn't so successful. I know this is a giant leap but I really am tired of starting out with the potential to be a superpower. So, I think I have what it takes to make it as Prussia in the GC.

Help

someone had a really good idea.

EU demands petience. you should enter military alliences with as many nations as you can surrounding the province you want to take.

diplomacy is the easy part - but the hard part is waiting things out. so while you wait - build up your armies and be ready for one someone to declare war.

i find the most successful attempt at winning battles is keeping several key factors in mind:

1. having fortified provinces that can hold out years.
2. having large armies that are able to split up and invade at least 3 provinces of your enemies - for seiges that will wear down the enemies's fortifications.
3. and having a good economy in order to raise more armies in the aftermath to keep nations from succesfully taking you while your vunerable.

and i wouldn't spend so much money on infrastructure or any of the other technologies so long as they are satisfactory. concentrate on increasing land technology because that is a key technology in winning victories.

anyway - hope this advice helps. i played as netherlands (1 province) and have all the superpowers afraid enough of my country to keep declaring war on me.... which is funny because when they do - they end up losing whole nations to me....

Sorry, just tought you where new to the game not knowing the effects of vassalisation or how to get out of it.

Anyway, I would suggest you try one of the slightly larger/stronger minors before going directly to ultra hard.

If you decide to choose Prussia anyway, I would suggest take your time. You will probably just sit around and wait for the first 50-100 years or so, building your country.
