Hello! thank you all for the comments. This week PDX has a big increase of players due to the release of HOIV DLC (+15,21%). Non PDX GSG have a decrease this week (-1,07%).

Top GSG chart shows the uptick of HOI IV that has overtaken the lead from CIV VI this week. It is a big increase although less than last year big release.

The other top GSG remain stable. Stellaris seems to follow a downward trend, tomorrow it is the release of the Star Trek spin off and next week we may see even less players:

For the small cap GSG chart, we observe Victoria 3 holding its breath until the release of the next beta update this week. CK II is holding its player base as well as I:R, Victoria II and Age of Wonders III. On the other hand, Age of Wonders 4 hasn't reached its bottom from the look of the chart:

See you next week!

Finally someone apart from Civ 6 took the first position.
We also have a really narrow fight for the third position between Civ 5, TW warhammer and EU 4

Just came to this post by chance. IsaacCAT, I praise you for your constant effort on doing this! At the same time, I got rather desolated to see that Victoria 2 has more players than IR...

Today it is a bit later but I had saved the data so here are the results for this week. PDX games have decreased-2.75% after last week surge due to HOI IV. All other publishers 24h peak players GSG have increased with 5,43%. This adds up to a total increase for this week of +2,24% 24h peak players.

The top GSG do not see the new total war: Pharaoh, its release week hits a very low number of 24h Peak players for a game of that franchise. CIV VI goes back on top and surprisingly, Stellaris does not take a hit from Star Trek: Infinite, on the contrary, it increases 24h peak players from last week.

The small caps GSG from PDX sees an uptick from Victoria 3 (small soldiers are always enticing) and the debut of Star Trek: Infinite at the same level of CK II. I:R is in upswing mood for 5 consecutive weeks now. Age of Wonders 4 also swings a bit up with the release of the latest DLC.

I've been pondering for a long time to make a YT channel and put out Imperator videos to see if it attracts more players again...
Do it :) whats the worst that could happen?

This week marks the 1st anniversary of Victoria 3 release. PDX is down (-6,55%) as well as the other GSG publishers (-2,43%). Overall this week GSG 24h peak players are down compared to last week (-3,96%).

The Top GSG sees a decrease of HOI IV after its latest expansion that mimicks last year figure, but its long term trend remains upward. CIV VI is back on top but stable, the same as the other group of games: Warhammer III, EU IV, CIV V, CK III and Stellaris:

The small cap PDX GSG shows that Victoria 3 is getting ready to jump when 1.5 releases next month, would it stay above 10,000 24h peak players? We will see. On the other hand, we see a big decrease on Star Trek: Infinite, a small uptick on CK II and one downtick for I:R. However, CKII, Victoria II, I:R and Age of Wonders III have a small but stable player base.

I expected some amount of player transfer from stellaris to Star Trek, as both seem to me are kind of related and it´s something that already happened with AoW3 and Victoria 2 when new games were launched. But the data doesn't show that trend this time.

I had assumed the order the forums are listed was based on the first week release numbers (so most popular to least popular release), but the S:I data bucks that trend. Also, I do suspect there is overlap with the Stellaris and S:I playerbase even if Stellaris didn't drop much. Only a fraction of the playerbase plays the game every week (true for every game on the chart), so the players that might be waiting for the next Stellaris update could be the bulk of the crossover fans that jumped into S:I.

I did expect Star Trek's numbers to debut higher. I wonder if Paradox is happy with that? Aside from licensing, the cost probably wasn't as high as their main title games because a lot of the work was done by using the Stellaris engine so the break-even bar is likely lower, but they seemed to be banking hard on the Trekkies being interested.

Today is the first of November, the All Saints holiday in some countries with the catholic faith. PDX 24h peak players of GSG falls for another week (-1,87%) as well as the other publishers (-1,14%). The total trend is down -1,87% this week.

In the top GSG, HOI IV pauses a bit its decrease after the peak of the DLC and if it follows last year figure it will go down a bit more in the following weeks. However, It does not need to follow last year figure. The other games remain stable

On the small cap GSG there is a surprise in the steamdb webpage as it seems Age of Wonders 4 is not listed anymore in the category of Grand Strategy. We will see if this is a temporary glitch and I will keep it in the list as Age of Wonders III remains listed. Victoria 3 keeps gaining players for three consecutive weeks breaking the overall trend and this bodes well for the reception of the announced 1.5 in 14/11/2023 as these players are possibly playing the beta. The other games remain stable with Star Trek: Infinite reaching a figure that will take it to the same amount of 24h Peak Players as Victoria II, I:R or Age of Wonders III.

It is interesting that HOI4s "DLC spike" was somewhat less "spikey" then the last time - not peaking out as high, but also less sharply (and so far also not as much) declining. I'm really curious if it will stabilize once more in a higher region than before the DLC.

Also curious, if Vic3 gains further upward momentum when 1.5 officially drops.

My chart only takes one weekly point, if that happens to be within the 24h of the release date the spike will always look more acute.

I think this is just a function of DLC Quality. NSB and BBA were great DLCs, AAT for HOI4 adds a rather tedious system for Military Industry and focus trees for smaller nations which are less relevant. When NSB and BBA came out, the bois and me played alot, when AAT came out, we barely played it at all and all of us are set back by the tedium of the military industry rework.

I respect your opinion and see where you are coming from, but I personally disagree. I really like the focus on the industrial side of things this time and I also find a lot of fun in content for smaller nations (as they are my preferred choice for playing,as it cuts combat MM to a resonable level).

I am totally with you. I think the Arms Market is great, the theory of the MIOs is good, and I cherish content for minors.
But it just aint as exciting as Russia or Italy on the last two DLCs had been.

Good morning, This week is a debacle of GSG 24h peak players and I cannot identify the reason. Last year we also saw a downward trend in the months of november but the trend was greatly affected by the release of Victoria 3. This week decreases are -4,92% PDX, -6,16% other than PDX and -5,71% overall.

The top GSG show a big decrease of the top two, CIV VI and HOI IV. On the other hand, EU IV sees a big increase after the release of their latest expansion albeit lower than the previous one. Could be a transfer this week from HOI IV to EU IV players?

The small caps GSG still do not show Age of Wonders 4. Victoria 3 drops low probably because players will not start a campaign that the new patch 1.5 next week will make it impossible to finish. This week, Start Trek: Infinite joins the level of players of the group of games regularly played by hundreds of players without any update, aka, the Classics.
