Indeed...while the graphs of Vic3 and Civ7 "behave" similar (small dips of roughly the same extend in absolute numbers) the meaning of them might differ for both games....as the big picture those numbers fit in.
Vic3 increasing players the third week in row wasn't really likely, but with 1.9.6 open beta running we are still in a dynamic environment to stabilize/slow down the inevitable (partial) dropping for one or two weeks more. And I see the game on course to retain a part of the players gained with the entire 1.9 package - which would be a success, as future 2.X can built on that - and we are in for a DD about the future today
Civ7 OTOH is in dear need to gain players. Or minimum to lose not even more. My hope was that a 2nd data point was needed to see full patch impact. And well...if last week was already all the positive and we are dropping again...that's not looking good. Next patch is likely at least a few weeks away and might be a rather small one due to summer break. I have severe doubts that this allows the game to stabilize. Comparing to Civ6 is also concerning...ok, a 95% sale discount on the base game might explain that rise partly, but it is third week in a row climbing. Not necessarily a direct player transfer, but surely not a sign of a sucessor landing well. I have no idea how the situation looks on the console side, but at least in the PC/Steam environment the entire civ brand as a whole might haven taken a hit. And even in case other platforms cover (or even outperform) that, it has an impact: If you take e.g. a look on UI or the focus on faster, fractioned gameplay, then these are also concessions to console. So if Civ7 works here, then the future might shift further in that direction...which gives even less hope for success in the "old community"
