Description of problem
Launcher crashes (Linux 64-bit)

What platform are you playing on?
Steam

What game version are you running?
1.0.0

Please select any/all DLC you have enabled.
Hellenistic world flavor pack,
Epirus flavor pack

Do you have mods enabled? No

Please explain your issue is in as much detail as possible.
When starting the game from Steam, the launcher shows briefly, before crashing. Running the game executable directly without the launcher seems to work. Running the launcher from outside Steam only stalls, but don't crash.

Steps to reproduce the issue.
Launch game from Steam on Linux

Same for me (Ubuntu 19.04 - 64bit)
Game runs launching directly the executable , crashes after a couple of seconds from Steam .
The Paradox Launcher seems running forever.

Game and launcher runs fine for me (x86_64, Ubuntu 19.04, AMDGPU, wayland).
Please, can you post the output of your dpkg ? I suspect some library is missing , here.

It starts in 18.04 xubuntu. Ran it for 2 hours before it crashed. but it was very unresponsive(slow).

As for libraries: Do an "ldd" command on the executable to see any missing libraries on your linux distro.

Shouldn't be lib issue since launcher runs fine when ran from bin (after adding steam_appid.txt), just starting it from steam causes it to close for some reason. (on arch in my case)

So, I'm a bit disappointed. Had a shit day and just wanted to kick back my two hours and play a bit, but it doesn't work. At all. I am not quite sure what the problem is.
I am running Ubuntu 18.04.2 LTS, Intel Core i3-7100, 2.4ghz, 8gb Ram and should have a NVIDIA GeForce 940MX with 2gb.

From Steam I can get into the launcher but once I play that's it. Just goes nowhere. No error message, nothing. Running the Launcher from outside steam immediately after tells me steam isn't running (even if it is) and gives me the error message: "steam_appid.txt is missing". It is indeed missing... And I am very confused. Starting the imperator.exe(?) directly from /ImperatorRome/Binaries itself yields no discernible result.

Absolutely no idea how to proceed.

Do ldd on imperator.exe to see if you are missing libraries.

You can create appid file:
$ echo 859580 > {install_dir}/launcher/steam_appid.txt

You can also try launching imperator manually using game exe ({install_dir}/binaries/imperator)

Update:

- steam_appid.txt (under "binaries" directory" contains '692230' . If I change it with '859580' , the paradox launcher starts perfectly ( I mean manually start)
- Anyway , Steam file validation reports a corrupt file (and change it to the old value )

- I'm still not able to launch directly from steam (even changing the appid numner :( )

Thank you. This solution works perfectly. Had problem with launcher hanging after manual start, but now it launches the game with mods.

Happy to be useful :)
Anyway as I told , any steam "file validate" reverts the file to the old value.
I hope the Devs will check this and also fix the game doesn't start from the Steam launcher...

YEAH ! Find it!

Paradox launcher doesn't use it's own "libnode.so" (that is inside the launcher directory ), but the system one if it exists.

So if you have an update libnode.so ( that is from nodejs/npm installation ) the Steam launcher doesn't start !!!

I'm going to fill a bug report for this!

Not sure if they've updated/changed something, but I've had it running fine out of the box on Ubuntu 18.04, Nvidia 418.56 (from nvidia driver vulkan ppa), Geforce 960M 2GB, Intel Core i5-4210H.

No tweaks or settings needed. Played through about an hour of the tutorial section without any problems so far. I know this isn't a lot of use to those not able to start it, but it's definitely able to run fine at least. I only downloaded it a couple of hours ago, so perhaps it's worth re-trying in case they've fixed something.

Happy to check any settings/files/libs etc if that's of any use to anyone. I just clicked play and it played.

Hmm.. I looked that appid from steam store so it should be correct. Maybe its different on different regions...

I'm not having any luck with anything suggest here. Same problem though: launcher functions fine, game fails to launch (runs for less than a second). Same too when I try to launch directly from the executable and when messing with the appid number. What a shame! I'd love to be able to give Imperator a go!

Have you had any luck so far?
