Description of problem
Launcher doesn't work on Linux

What platform are you playing on?
Steam

What game version are you running?
Current content BuildID: 3769468

Please select any/all DLC you have enabled.
Hellenistic world flavor pack,
Epirus flavor pack

Do you have mods enabled? No

Please explain your issue is in as much detail as possible.
Starting the game via Steam just opens a small window, which closes itself.
Starting the launcher (install path, */steamapps/common/ImperatorRome/launcher/Paradox\ Launcher gives the following error:
Failed to initialize Steam API: Error: Steam initialization failed. Steam is running, but steam_appid.txt is missing. Expected to find it in: /mnt/sde6/ck/Steam/steamapps/common/ImperatorRome/launcher/steam_appid.txt
(also see attachment
Starting the game via ../binaries/imperator does work, but without multiplayer, sound and (i guess) achievements
The "missing" file steam_appid.txt exists in the binaries folder, but creating a symlink only lead to this error:
Failed to initialize Steam API: Steam initialization failed, but Steam is running, and steam_appid.txt is present and valid.Maybe that's not really YOUR app ID? 692230

Steps to reproduce the issue.
see above
also: i have more than one Steam library folder, but Imperator is installed in the default one (but on a different filesystem/ssd than Steam)
System info: see attachment

Sound works for me, but it always starts with the wrong sound output device configured (my screen instead of my headphones) and I have to switch it from the sound control on the systray for Imperator: Rome, which is listed as FMOD Audio there.

I can confirm achievements do not work when launching from outside Steam. Well, they work, but do not get registered on Steam. So they reset on each game.

Update: with newest patch the sound now works (when starting the binary directly) .
Guess it's the launcher, not Imperator:Rome.
Would be nice if the launcher wouldn't be needed to run the game via Steam, as I have no real interest in multiplayer, and I guess that's why the launcher is now mandatory.

This happens to every Linux user, and it happens slightly differently. Here the launcher does not even render, the linked issue is about a specific Windows user which cannot get the game running after pressing the PLay button on the launcher, a button which we Linux users do not even get to see.

I could workaround this by moving away the steam game overlay:

mv ~/Steam/ubuntu12_64/gameoverlayrenderer.so ~/Steam/ubuntu12_64/gameoverlayrenderer.so.off

disable the overlay is not enough, i had to remove it.
Of course, rename the file back if you want the overlay in other games and notice that steam will restore the file sometimes on steam startup

Didn't work for me. Were there any additional steps you were taking?
