Hello knaves my knaves,

After fiddling around with the crusader kings II game, I discovered my Grafiks Card overheats. I'd annexed most of the video screen till it get windowed 1024 x 748, but i wan't to annex it further till its 640 x 480. But that incurs too much BB. Is there any way to get it smaller,

With Regards,

A fellow knave.

Do the what now? I have trouble understanding what you're saying and what the question is.
Did you lower the resolution or just ran the game windowed and make the window smaller?
And what exactly are you trying to accomplish? Solve the overheating? A smaller window won't help with that. The most common overheating problem is a graphics driver that forces v-sync to off, causing the card to try to reach a new world record in rendering speed, even though that doesn't help the game any. Deactivate that option in your graphics driver and you should be fine.
If that is what you want to do, but the solution doesn't help, this really belongs in tech support.
If that isn't what you want to do, I apologize, but you'll have to try and be more clear.

Try to toggle the "vetical sync" setting. This might cause issues with some cards.

Ok sorry, the thing is, if I run it in 1920 x 1080 resolution, the game will only last 5 min till my pc explodes. I have downtuned everythign possible ingame and in settings .txt. The only way to play like a half hour is by running the game on 5 speed, autosaving every month [which lowers the degrees on my graphic driver with 2 degrees everytime] and finally saving the game when my pc reaches 105 degrees celsius. I will try to turn off v-sync at my graphic driver, but i find it weird that i can run games like TF 2 and Vicky II but not CKII.

PS: is there legacy mode available?

To the Most Deplorable KoningRichard of Paradox Forums,

Tales of your misdeeds are told from Ireland to Cathay. Check if fans on your card are actually spinning. When your card overheats, it's a fault in the card. No game should be able to reliably cause properly working video card to crash.

Being able to play other games has nothing to do with being able to play this one.
You can also drive an automatic car without ever switching gears and have that method fail in a manual. Nothing wierd about it at all.

To the Pitiful KoningRichard of Paradox Forums,

May wisdom ever elude you. Open your computer case and physically check fans is spinning or not. You can tell usually tell from just looking, or, if that's not an option for you, move your hand to where the fan is - but not inside, as you may damage the fan - and check if you feel air blowing.

To The Of ElderBerries-Smelling Manual Switch Of A Toyota Prius,

If I open the Case, the Imperial Court of Packardus Bellus will call my Pact of Guarantees of Null and Void.

To The Hard-Working Lothar Warschau,

I have confirmed to have multiple fans residing in my computer case, 2 out of 3 are seen spinning and blowing air. Alas, the last one, coincidentally the one of the Graphics Driver, cannot be seen. So confirming by Sight falls of. I cant dinstinguish the sounds of multiple fans, so hearing falls of as well. I do noticed that the rooster of the last-named fan is very warm,

Therefore I ask again, is there a programme to check ye-olde fans.

Is the GPU 65 at idle?
That is just too high, unless you live in the tropics and aren't in a well-ventilated room
Can you try posting your temperature (of your GPU) during play (ie. alt-tab, scribble on a scrap of parchment or something, then post it via courier while your PC is venting)

Also, this is just a guess, but I'd like to wager that airflow inside your case isn't working too well. Are you sure there isn't a miniature gate of hell inside it?
If you can't open the case for fear of voiding your warranty, try using an airblower (since my guess is that it's dust related)

We have also had reports that the game can run at insanely high fps rates, which drives the GPU too hard and so runs the temperatures and fans up. You can use a utility like fraps to see what fps you are running the game at, and indeed to limit it to a sensible rate, say 48fps would be more than adequate.

@riknap, yes 65 is at idle, When playing, it will run up to 105 and then it will shut itself off because of weaknesses.

@AndrewT how do I lower the FPS of CrusaderKingsII,

There are multiple gates off hell in my pc, many dust has turned solid and I have to do the painstakingly task of removing it with a skewer everymonth. I hate my life sometimes...

There's nothing within CK2 to limit fps. You can use fraps - Google it.
