Hi all,

I have CK DV 2.1, and there is something weird that has happened to me twice. I was playing with Asturias de Oviedo, I managed to conquer Asturias de Santilla, Rioja and Zaragoza. So I set up my son/successor to count of asturias de santillana. Also there is an other son who is count of El bierzo( by default of the 1066 scenario). Anyways both carry my last name obviously.

BUt then the king of Leon and Castille dies and there is a new king and I get the pledge alegiance event. I decide to declare independence (just to see what it feels like) but my son of asturias de santillana remains loyal to the king. A few years later the king declares war on me and I lose. Then the games says I surrendered?

I thought the principle of the game was to have dynasty not control an empire. So how come I get game over when by principle i should have been granted control of one of the counties that are ruled by a member of my family?

You always lose if your last province is conquered in a war, no matter if you have possible heirs. If your ruler would have been killed, you would have continued as a family member, but you lost a war and all titles -- thus it is game over.
It's the same situation as when your heir is of another dynasty -- even if dynastic heirs exist, if you let this happen, it is game over.

so if assassinated my current during the war i would have continued to be in the game?

Yes, but since the war won't end the king will then also conquer your other province and then it again is game over

No, once you declare war on a vassal (direct or not) of the king, he will declare war on you. You will end up fighting your former liege -- instant suicide if you're not prepared for it.
This is also why I recommend pausing before every DoW -- if you see a count breaking free, make 100% sure he hasn't already pledged to someone (like your liege) before you DoW!

Thx this preatty clear now, i just had a bid doubt.

One last question, can I engage in private wars againts ohter people from te same realm? like me agaisnt the count of el bierzo without having the king intervene?

No, you can't.

But there is an exploit. If you declare war on a vassal of a vassal then your king comes to your aid.

Say you are the duke of Anjou and your liege is the king of France, you have a claim on the county of Boulogne, who is a vassal of the duke of Flanders and that duke is also a vassal of the king of France. Then the following thing happens

Duke of Anjou declares war on the count of Boulogne
Duke of Flanders declares war on the duke of Anjou
King of France declares war on the duke of Flanders

So never attack a direct vassal of your king
