I want to join a MP game

  • We have updated our Community Code of Conduct. Please read through the new rules for the forum that are an integral part of Paradox Interactive’s User Agreement.
We need a Holland (and perhaps a Venice as well) in Conflicts and Converts. Check our game thread. If it looks appetizing then please announce your interest in that thread. We can then proceed to make a test and see if your connection works. I am available all weekend - except when I play EU MP of course ;)

What you at least should do is checking if you can connect to a game.
Also, you should download and install icq from www.icq.com and add the gamemaster of the game you want to join to your list.

Holland sounds tempting. I just installed patch 1.09, I 'm going to check the page you mentioned. I guess 'Conflicts and Converts' is a custom scenario.

No it is just plain vanilla 1.09. So unless you have not fiddled with your installation files (more than installing official Paradox releases) you will have no trouble. Many other campaigns use special mods (with e.g. a map of their own) where you need to install other things. But Conflicts and Converts use the vanilla settings, although the starting position was not any of Paradox' scenarios, but that is nothing you need top concern yourself about.

In fact, to the best of my knowledge no campaign at all uses any of the Paradox scenarios, like the GC or the Age of Exploration etc.

If you want you can pick up our latest save, load it in SP and test. Here is link to the wonderful stats site made by one in our community (a very talented and helpful Russian whose name is Tonio :) )

I downloaded the file and tried a bit playing Holland. Pretty much colonies for the dutch...
As I understand I have to install ICQ in order to proceed with our communication. OK so far?
 
Yeha that's the thread. We have a AAR thread as well. Both of them are high up on the first page of the MP forum since we played yesterday night. You will find them easily. Just read hte names of the first 10-20 MP forum threads.

Holland is always a small nation with high income from trade and some colonies. As Holland you need to play the diplomatic game even more skilful than with a biggie.

The most simple thing is to befriend yourself with one that can protect you. Jus to mention one possibility we could examine say the Russians. I have heard that they are exceptionally trustworthy towards their friends. As it happens they are also the strongest nation. Thus, from an objective point of view, I believe the best for you is to put yourself under their protection. If you would for example offer to be a vassal under them I am sure they will do just about anything to protect you. There is for example a lot of German land to conuqer from Prussia and Austria, as both of them are enemies of Russia. In fact France is also an enemy of those two and thus you trhough friendship with Russia you would as well earn friendly relations with your southern neighbour.

Yes, I believe that if you do join our game your path to success is the one outlined above.

The general advice of history, to befriend your neighbours neighbours often holds true in this game as well.

I wouldn´t allow that guy anywhere near a nation. That is of course if you are NOT playing a masochismcampaign... :D
 
On the contrary Ampo. Sybje is out since he did not turn up. The first two sessions he should play he posted and apologised after the sessions for being absent. He has now stopped doing that as well. Sybje sucks. :mad:

I don't suppose you are trying to persuade me in letting Holland become a vassal of "your" Russians?

I must warn you that dutch people are very proud and brave.. (it happens to have some friends over there).
