As an Icelander I'm really interested in knowing how Iceland will be handled in the game.

Historically 1066 finds Iceland 66 years after christianity became the prominent religion and ten years after the first bishop of Skálholt was instated. Iceland has no king, it was a "republic" ruled by the Althing were the most prominent leaders of the country met once a year and made laws and settled disputes. Around 1150 four major "dynasties" (not sure that is the right word) appear, Haukdælir, Ásbirningar, Oddaverjar and Sturlungar. From 1234-1264 there was a civil war, most often called Sturlungaöld (Age of Sturlungar) because throughout the time they were the most prominent with leaders like Snorri Sturluson (also a famous writer), Sighvatur Sturluson and Strurla Sighvatsson. The war ended in 1264 with the victory of the Haukdælir which were in fact vassals of the Norwegian King, that is how Iceland became a part of the Kingdom of Norway. It is however a popular idea, not sure though of how much it is stained with modern nationalism, that had the Sturlungar won then they would have attempted to found and independent kingdom (especially during the timeframe of Sturla Sighvatsson who was killed in battle 1238). In 1264 Gissur Þorvaldsson became jarl over Iceland and ruled the country with the approval of the Norwegian King. After his death the king to direct control.

Anyway, what I wanted to know is how Iceland will be represented in the game.

Well, as the game focuses on the nobility and royalty of Europe, Iceland, as a republic, is unlikely to be playable...

It would upset my greatly to see Iceland as a Norwegian vassal in the beginning of the game, an unplayable republic would be far better.
I expect Iceland to be an unplayable republic from the start, for later to fall under the sway of my mighty Norwegian Empire! (Muahahaha :D )

So how will norweigian takeover be modelled then? Events? Not that this particular island is of much importance to the situation in europe.

I would guess by events yes. How the Norwegian stuggle for control over the scottish isles I am more unsure of. (Battle at Largs etc) Will they be "handed over" to the scotts via events, or will the scotts have to declare war to get them? The second sounds better though.

May they resist you bitterly and revolt frequently you Norwegian tyrant :)

To give the noble republic of Iceland the opportunity to starve to death during the mid-1300 climate worsening. A noble goal! :)

It shouldn't be handled by events!! the Norwegian ruler should have to go through some trouble to acquire Iceland!!

Icelanders never starved during the Norwegian rule (they did under the danish one though)...but it had nothing to do with the fact that the republic was dead, the king never really did anything for Iceland.

I do think what he ment to say was that if you diddnt baw to his rule he would cancel the trade from Bergen to iceland which was the only trade rute to iceland during this time which allowed the icelanders to have grain and other luxury stuff they did not have on iceland!!. I would say that this trade route may be one of the reasons why icelandic people did not revolt during norweagian rule. They all had norweagian ancestors so why would they revolt :p :D ;)

But let us get the topic back on, uh..topic. I am not too familiar about icelandic history, but I always thought that Iceland was absorbed into the Norgesveldet in a non-forceful way by Håkon Håkonsson.

If this is true, then an event would be best suited.

A peaceful takeover following a 50-year period of civil war... Those civil wars have a tendency to soften the resistance when a firm hand offers to take charge and lend protection...
