I know absolutely nothing about mods, and maybe someones already done this and I just haven't found it yet..but one of my favorite mods in CK1 was a simple one that made every single duchy independent and vacated all the Kingdom titles.
I also was one of the many people that took the time to tinker with the demo in order to be able to play it from 666 on, but didn't care enough to mod the dynasties so I got to enjoy a Europe where every single county was independent and had a LOT of fun.
So..how much work would it take to make it so every single county is independent, or at least every duchy? Or at the least to vacate the HRE/ERE/Caliph titles? Anything to make it so that there isn't any single established power in any part of the world in 1066? I know I can do the simple route of modifying my start date, but I'd prefer to be able to do this with the existing characters from 1066 intact if at all possible
I spend most of my games wishing the HRE or ERE would collapse, or lamenting as the crusaders smash against the Caliphate wall..and I think it creates so much more freedom and true paradoxes if there is no established status quo
