Ugh, I just bought this but now I'm reading it's free? As in just sign up for a newsletter and save yourself the $20?

I would be NICE if Gamersgate would have some kind of link or note if someone clicks to buy CK.. something like "hey dude, you know this is free right why are you giving us $20."

(bangs head on wall)

First, you can't really expect a company to tell you not to buy from them. That'd be insane.

Second, you can't get it for free anymore. If you were signed for the newsletter since a while, and got the one a couple of days ago, you've got the special code in that newsletter. You won't get it anymore. So it was a special one-time bonus.

I didn't realise about the newseltter till after they were sent out.

I am signed up now, but they don't re-send them to new subscribers. Therefore the game is free to you but if I and others like me want a copy we would need to pay.

I already own CK complete (as you might tell from my posts on this forum over the past few months) so the newsletter offer would give me no new content, but I would very much like the DV icon if anyone would care to pm me with a code they don't need themselves :)

Like it said in the e-mail, the code was a promotion for people who receive the newsletter. Anyone who didn't receive it missed out, and I would assume that the promotion code was only valid for a few days.

Well that's all that matters to me.. I'd only be annoyed if the same darn site I bought it from was also giving it away for free *at the same time*. If that's not the case then no problem.

Well, that's why it was a special promotion. It was a special case, and you aren't entitled to it - just like you're not entitled to a free bottle of Coca Cola because you missed out that one time they were giving out in the supermarket. Some of us just were lucky, sorry, that's how it rolls. Sorry for you mate, hope you get a better chance in the future!

Tough luck. But with promos some people will always win and others will lose. This time you didn't win (and neither did I, because I already had the game they were giving for free). I don't really mind that I'm one of the losers this time, because there are several occasions when I have been one of the winners.
