Well, how about some of the Cossack uprisings? A couple of unrest waves for the period 1648-1666 perhaps?
Cool:cool:
I would really appreciate it, i even posted some suggestion about it some time ago in IGC thread. It's going to screw PL much, but it's very historical, after all it's the beginning of the end of Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth. I suppose it will be typical 'time of troubles' thing, so if you want i can test it even fifteen times in HO games :), i suppose it will completly change situation in eastern europe, especially when playing 'chaos' settings (because it's almost impossible for PL to recover seven points of stability). Anyway if you need to know anything, i will do my best to answer your question :).
About that WP army, IIRC it's 35k army located in 32 supply province, it's not winter, so it's small 3% attrition.
And about that Viking's suggestion, AFAIK, it would really require a lot of work, and also debugging, but it's really interesting option. Well, i can try to do some of this work, i think i know enough to change this in .inc files. So i would be glad to help :).
And btw, i have a small idea, since growth in India is negative in small colonies, and Mughals usually kill natives before Europeans even discover inland india provinces, maybe native populations can be changed, from that 10'000 high aggrresive people to smaller populations of 0 aggresivity?that way we would not have a 700 people city next to huge original Mughal cities. I know it will be easier for humans then, but...

An Aragon fictional option, please!

Has someone thought in a fictional option in which Fernando of Aragon and Isabel of Castilla were not married?

I think is an attractive possibility, with a new nation, Aragon that would be quite powerfull in Mediterraneo and another one, Castilla that would be a colonization power.

Wishes to Doomdark

Could you edit the russian ai files so that they turns Kola and Far Karelia into citys?

Maybe give Denmark her own ai file, so that Narvik and Finnmark get turned into citys?

At the moment, Savolaks is not a part of Scandinavia but East Europe. Is this intended?

I would like to see Kazakhs in 2.3 but it would not be reasonable because the lands where they live is Terra Incognita in EU map.

I would definetly like for Turkey NOT to have CB shield in the Balkans and have to deal with revolts there.

I *never* get serious rebellions, and usually continue fighting wars during the Time of Troubles, though admittedly at a slower rate than before or after. My only problem is that my technological position continues to decline relative to my neighbors, but that's to be expected, and usually doesn't have a major impact on the game.

I think as it stands now the T of T can be a bit rough; especially in Russia. I'm not sure how the game was tweaked in IGC, but the events in Russia are WAY tougher than in the GC. Inevitably all the Russian provinces revolt TWICE. It's not so bad for the Human Player (I agree it's more fun); but there' s no way The A.I. can possibly deal with it. As I've mentioned in another thread, I've seen both France and Russia fall apart because of Tof Ts. The AI majors are easy enough to deal with, this now makes them easier IMO. If, for instance, I'm playing P-L, I would just wait until 1600 and then invade Russia with everything I have.

Sí. Lee la segunda página de este thread...:D Lo siento...

In fact I think this is one of the most attractive options for all of us spanish players...and for any average EU player tired of the spanish superpower.

Btw, I agree mostly with the possibility of a Plague event in central and south america once the european colonisation begins.

Danish CBs in Holstein and Oldenburg

Following the recent trend of exchanging permanent CBs with long-lasting temporary ones ;) I have a couple of suggestions regarding Denmark.

Danish temporary CB in Holstein:

The duchy of Schlewig, which lies north of Holstein separated by the Eider River was created in 1115 and was a hereditary fief held by the kings of Denmark. King Valdemar III Eriksen, who had been the duke of Schleswig, conferred Schleswig on his uncle, Gerhard, and granted a charter forbidding the union of Schleswig and Denmark under a single overlord. In 1386 the count of Holstein received Schleswig as a hereditary fief. His descendant, Christian I of Denmark, inherited both Schleswig and Holstein in 1460, but he was obliged to recognize the inseparability of the two territories and to affirm that they were bound to the Danish crown by a personal union only.

Even so, in the 16th century Schleswig-Holstein underwent complex and rather messy subdivisions, although theoretically the principle of the inseparability of the two duchies was not violated. The three main divisions were: (1) a ducal portion, including parts of both duchies, which was conferred on Adolphus, duke of Holstein-Gottorp, younger brother of Christian III of Denmark, and on his descendants, the dukes of Holstein-Gottorp, (2) a royal portion, including parts of both duchies, ruled directly by the Danish kings, and (3)a common portion, ruled jointly by the Danish kings and the dukes of Holstein-Gottorp.

By the Treaty of Roskilde in 1658 the Danish crown renounced its sovereignty over ducal Schleswig. The resulting quarrels between Denmark and the duke of Holstein-Gottorp were a major factor in the Northern War of 1700-1721, which ended with the dispossession of Duke Charles Frederick of Holstein-Gottorp and the union of the ducal portion of Schleswig with the Danish crown. Grand Duke Paul (later Emperor Paul I), renounced in 1773 the ducal portion of Holstein, yielding it to the Danish crown, in exchange for Oldenburg. Thus all Schleswig-Holstein were once more united under the Danish kings.

While I believe a permanent CB is more appropiate (certainly more appropiate than the CB on Estland), I understand it was removed for play balance reasons. So I guess a temporary CB will have to suffice - that 3% nationalism might even model the quarrels the Danish kings had with the Holstein-Gottorp dukes ;) .

Danish temporary CB on Oldenburg:

In 1448 Christian of Oldenburg was elected to be the new king of Denmark. The ancestral lands of Oldenburg were turned over by Christian to his brother Gerhard the Valiant. The Emperor Charles V gave Oldenburg as a fief to Count Anton I in 1531. The main line became extinct with the death of Count Anton Günther (1603-67). After lengthy quarrels over the succession, Christian V of Denmark became ruler of Oldenburg in 1676. In 1773, however, the Danish King Christian VII surrendered Oldenburg to the Grand Duke Paul of Russia, in consideration of the latter's renunciation of the sovereignty of Schleswig-Holstein (as mentioned above).

The claim of the Danish on Oldenburg is thus strong, which I believe should be represented by (at least) a temporary CB.

Well, just my two ducats and sorry about all these ramblings ;)

Doomie,

I noticed you gave Persia some ColDyn, I would limit it though to the reign of Abbas I and Nadir Shah. I also would give some limited Col Dyn to Ayutthaya, I did and they built a couple of cities around them, which is nice. If you want I'll send the files to you.

Also, what's the deadline for 2.3, I'll be out of town for a week, and won't have internet :(.

Since col dyn. is very limited in the game would it make sense to give some countries 6 colonists to start with? I could see some of the smaller nations using them for nations around them to make a 'greater' empire. They only have 6 so It would be very limited. You could give those nations say double their starting cash and 20 colonists. I have noticed that EU engine will only round down the number of colonists after the first month.

One additional question, nations like nubia start with 2 colonial cites with 700 population. These never grow at all until they are over 1000 pop. Was this intentional? Even over 1000+ populations grow at only 1-2% a year. It would be nice to see them start with 1001 pop on those provinces as they are also very costly to colonize.

Just a thought.

Errant,

I posted in "wish list" to make a tweak so AI would send colonists until pop>1000. Giving initial colonists and not giving Col Dyn is very limited, AI needs all the help it can get. Besides, you can control how much they actually colonize. I hope that they will fix the Hist Events file, as we can add a couple of settles events here and there.

Doomie,

In Hist Events put event 7 to the end, it's broken

I will second this, Persia needs ColDyn mostly for Conversion of Sunni provinces to Shia. Persia does not know of many places where it can send settlers, so it will not send colonists to Americas or other places, instead it will populate neighbouring provinces [e.g. unsettled provinces bordering Basrah and Kalat and Indus].

Ismail I that ruled from 1504, converted most of Persian provinces to Shia and there are two possibilities to implement this in the game: (1) Historical events of conversion, or (2) Colonial Dynamism.

Crook,

I have no specific deadline for 2.3. Basically I will finish it when I have time. Persian dynamism will be limited a bit as you say. Auytthaya... Sure.

Also, I really approve of your campaign to get Paradox to fix the historical events and get the AI to colonize up to 1000 (but it should only do so if the growth was negative.)

Sure Cornelius, although it looks like Korea will win. I think someone cheated yesterday though, as Korea suddenly spiked from 9 votes to 22 in three hours.

You might want to coordinate your Kazakh research with Crook though; he's already done a lot of work with them I think. :)
