Hello, I recently reinstalled Crusader Kings, this time with Deus Vult, whereas previously I simply played vanilla with patches.

Something different I noticed was the tendency for the AI to vassalize duchy and counties that it really should have no business vassalizing, such as the Duke of Apulia getting vassalized by the King of England, or the county of Muscowy ending up as part of France.

This never seemed to happen in the past, in those games you tended to need to be the duke of a certain region to get the counties in that region to be your vassals, or the king of a certain region to get a duchy to be your vassal, eg, the Duchy of Aquitaine would generally only swear allegiance to the King of France from independence.

Were the mechanics for this changed with Deus Vult, so that maybe high prestige was more of a factor in successful vassalizations or some such? All in all I'm finding it very messy and having very stupid situations arise where Kingdoms are spilling out of their natural borders all over the place.

Also, is there some sort of mod that could roll back and changes to the mechanics?

Cheers.

Much appreciated, I thought I had the beta patch installed but apparently I didn't.
