Why? Basically Invictus just gives more flavor without changing core things. I understand that some people may dislike drastic changes, but adding more missions or more religions or more relics or more events or more realistic tribes - how can anyone not prefer that?

idk maybe I should give it another shot...

Definitely Invictus. Now I also tried with the submod Virtual Limes for the first time which I can also recommend if you prefer more natural expansion instead of Rome just conquering Germania.

I held off on Invictus for a long time, and it was silly to do so because it really does feel like Vanilla if most tags had received the focus that the Diadochi, Rome, and Carthage got.

I'm exactly the same as you. Tho I held off because I'm an achievement hunter, but once you could get achievements with mods I did try Invictus and will never go back.
