so first off hi
i just got crusader kings and ive been having fun, but for some reason(s) i am a hated throughout the entire ? (i cant read the last word, but im assuming its galaxy or maybe world). Im the king of a unified Ireland (no counts, dukes anything since they rebel instantly, due to losing 54.8% loyalty a month)
possible reasons for this...
1. ive had 2 kinslayer kings, 1 i killed my wife bc she was cheating and i dont like that lol. 2. my king was crazy and killed his son so i couldnt really help that.
2. ive sent a few assassins (actually a lot, but in my defense some french duke killed one of my sons after i killed his son, so after that we had an assassin war. that i won i might add)
3. i grab whatever title i can whenever i can (only in france and england) and then start a war on my christian neighbors, and install a family member as count, so they can rebel and i have less family members plotting in my court to kill me.

so i guess what im wondering is which of these has led to me being hated, and how can i get rid of my horrible reputation and become a good guy again. ive had 3 generations of leaders now with no assassins, killing christians, and 1 generation since my last kinslayer king.
any tips are appreciated since im new and i just wanna not be hated for a few years lol

Sounds like you got your badboy rating up extremely high because of all your assassination attempts, title grabbing, and conquests.

There are some events which might fire to help you lower it (which generally means giving up your claims on some title), but you can also lower it by granting titles away to make vassals within your kingdom or by gaining a lot of piety and waiting for that to help lower your badboy naturally over time.

Next time, the best thing to do is pace yourself! :p

thanks

thanks, i wanted to pace myself kinda lol, but i allied with scotland and just starting whooping all the counts in ireland so i guess i just got ahead of myself. thanks again though, i guess i have to start being nice to the priests and being good.

Do you only have CK or also DV (the expansion)?? ,,, if you have DV, you can force-vassalize your conquests, which does not increase bad boy :)

You might want to check this thread for a run down on what gives and takes BB points: http://forum.paradoxplaza.com/forum/showthread.php?t=162777

Kinslayer is also a very bad trait for loyalty. Nobody seems to like a Kinslayer, so that coupled with high BB is why all of your courtiers and vassals hate you.

You have to be a bit more careful. But not to worry, 1/3 of BB are removed when a new King inherits. Otherwise just accumulate Piety, which helps reduce BB faster.

Should be interesting keeping the realm together as a kinslayer/scum of the earth type of King :D

And welcome to the wondrous world of CK :)

thanks again for the tips, my realm really isnt held together so much as i just dont share lol. i control ireland and no vassals nothing. i tried making my bastard son a count thinking wow this kid will really love me since i didnt have my spymaster kill him and i gave him land, but nope he betrayed me too.
i have DV and should be up to date on the patches. ill just have to keep playing the nice guy till im loved.
thanks again, i love CK already just trying to get used to sharing, i was an only child so its a tough learning curve lol.

For most strategy gamers it is hard getting used to the fact that lackeys are needed and that you can't hoard all your land.

Remember to keep your Effeciency above 75% or bad events will happen ;) ... your king might get stressed, then drepressed, then crazy and then kill off his entire family and court and then commit suicide :D ... AFTER he spends 6 years income on building the Tower of Babylon in down town Dublin :D

This thread made me smile :D I think every single one of those things you mentioned in the OP contributed just a little bit to your bad rep ;). Reminds me of my early attempts. Keeping an eye on that reputation from time to time is very important.

If you're playing CK without the expansion pack, going on crusade is a good way to remove BB. Giving away count titles is the quickest way to improve your reputation, so getting land from Muslims and giving it away will make you look much better. This doesn't work in the Deus Vult expansion though, because you get BB from seizing Muslim lands .

Yeah, but in DV, conquest + reliquish claim + Force vassalization = great reputation :)
