Just started my first game, playing as Russia. Short AAR:
1914: started an offensive and made it to Danzig. The Germans and AH soon counter-attacked and drove me back. Germany took Latvia&Lithuania and Poland, and AH almost made it to Odessa. However, I managed to redeploy my forces and launched an offensive against AH. By the end 1916 I managed to force AH out of the war.

However, at the same time Germany had been fighting at the western front, and had finally made it to Paris and is now slowly taking over France. England has around 40 divisions sitting in London.

I tried to launch attack on the Eastern Front, but they all failed. Instead it is now a war of attrition: germans launch an attack against one of my provinces with 30-40 divisions and I counter-attack with 40-50 divisions and drive them away.

Btw. the 'supplies arrive' event fires every time I load the savegame.

AI problem...

This is standard for persistent events. :)

I am playing my first game of TGW 1.05, so I don't have much to compare it to. I am playing as France on the hard/aggressive setting (I was hoping for lots of attacks from the AI, along with a good challenge). A short summary of the war to date follows:

Early 1914: I shuffle troops around, concentrating on the French-German border, and establishing reserves to the south of Belgium. Fortifications are improved in several border provinces.

August-October 1914: Germany declares war and plows into Belgium and Luxemburg. I send in my troops and swiftly liberate all of the captured territory. I even manage to capture...that German province to the northeast of Luxemburg, whose name escapes me now. My troops dig in their heels while the Germans batter them again and again. In a "German Verdun", the German attackers are ground down, losing more than 20 divisions before calling off the attack. Meanwhile, my fleet and the British fleet sweep the seas of most German, Italian, and A-H warships.

October 1914-September 1917: Nothing much happens. The germans build up 150+ divisions on my frontier, but never launch any attacks, even though they occasionally have local superiority of 5:1 or more. To break the tedium, I obtain military access from the Swiss(!) and launch minor spoiling attacks on undefended provinces in Germany and A-H.

Every time I plan an attack on the Germans or Italians, they ALWAYS reinforce before my troops can arrive, leading me to call off several attacks. One time, I sent 32 divisions forward against 24 German divisions, with an arrival time 5 days in the future. No German units were moving anywhere near my target province. Suddenly, just hours before my units arrive, German reinforcements appear - the province now holds 78 divisions, a number I can't hope to defeat. I am speeding towards tank production now, in hopes that tanks will give me the edge I need to break the German lines. Otherwise, by the time this war ends, 90% of it will have been "Sitzkrieg".

I played five-six games with different countries. Germans do seem a bit slow, but they always plow into Belgium and then slowly advance against the French. True, they are less active on Western than on Eastern front, but it kind of compensates for lack of British troops in France. It's not a problem from a historical perspective (30-40 British divisions would have created a stalemate anyway). It is a bit frustrating if you are playing A-H or some other member of the Alliance.

Ay, same here Germany just sits there looking happy, even when 10 French divisons were sitting in one province and Germany had 150 in the other one

However when I play France Germany gladdly gnag-bangs me(He came from behind and two other directions and his name was Hindenburg).

Maybe it is somekind of hard-coded AI? What would happen if you gave the west AIs similar orders like the Russian ones?

Germany does this with me all the time. Even when they have superior numbers, they just sit there. So now when I play TGW, I make myself play Germany so I can make it half way realistic.

It's probably quite hard to get the front AI to understand that it is supposed to reinforce the western front, where it has superiority, when the eastern front "commander" is screaming for more troops. And wasting away that superiority in attacks when it is struggling to keep up in numbers in the east is probably against the AI's "principles".

Or not, I know nothing about the HOI AI. :)

I don't know if this thread is still active, but for sure it is better to post in old thread than start a new one. ;)
So I am observing the same problem: Germans barely advance into France and at the completely wrong provinces. I tried changing the time first 'trench warfare' trigger starts in order to give Germany a little more time to advance, but Germany did nothing... I also tried editing the German AI configuration files making country priority for France 1000 and for Russia 10, and guess what: it still doesn't work  . In game it seems like AI is simply ignoring the configuratrion file and sending troops to eastern front, not sure why.

In case the Russians take nothing more but east prussia (60% chance), the situation on the western front almost always turns into this:

Green line represents border of Germany. As you see, in spite of the defences, AI preferred to advance in the center and didn't even finish conquering Belgium.

In case Russians get further and reach Berlin (40% chance), The French brake through Colmar and start advancing into the German mainland.

If Russians never taken danzig, after a while they start retreating and approximately by October 1917 the German troops appear at the gates of Moscow (Nice job regulating eastern front AI!). After Germany gets rid of the second front, it gets literally invincible since the numbers of German soldiers on the western front in comparing to the entente troops are at least 5 to 1. But Germany still doesn't attack! As far as i learned from the events, the greman AI should switch to tgw_ger_kaiserschlacht.ai at this point, but it doesn't seem to help  . What do you think is wrong with it?

I don't know - cranky AI or something.

I think I've solved it now, anyway - so the situation will be much better in the next update.

that's good to know! Anyway thank you for the great mod as it is certainly my favorite one. Looking forward to the next patch :)
