Tbh Rome still tends to be the big mid game threat in my games. Massively growing until it surpasses the Successor states in accepted pops.

It's not so much that rome cant grow as much as there seems to be little to no unique content for Rome after the start.

Perhaps its easier for the Greek monarchs who have a very specific lineage versus a Roman system with many famous names.

This might be acceptable if i was playing a random country. But the randomly generated characters are kinda lifeless and I lose the sense of "this is the Roman republic" to a sense of I'm playing a really weird imitation of something inspired by a Roman republic with random characters, really sorta generic missions.

I know people put effort into the game but it still feels more like a sandbox than a snapshot in time. And the further you get from the start date, the more weird, random, generic it gets.

There is absolutely no way that a game that was struggling to get an audience is going on a year's hiatus, to suddenly get content in 2022.

There would be an even smaller base of willing customers. Games dead.

No worries, if you are right, we will get IMPERATOR: ROME 2.

PDS is a studio that develops GSG and they need to have a quality GSG on that time if they do not want to loose customers to other companies filling that time gap.

While 2.0 remains the benchmark for quality GSG on the antiquity they can leave it without development. We will see how the scene changes in 2022.

I got this game a few days ago and have really been liking it. It honestly seems to be in a pretty decent state, and all it would take to make a really great game from this would just be a little more polish -- better UI, more missions for states outside Greece and Italy, maybe a reconsideration of what buildings should be in the game, maybe a reorganization of the tech tree. The mechanics are pretty solid, though. I honestly think Paradox could turn this game's poor sales around if they gave it only just a little more care; even in its current state, it's a better game than CK3 -- poor player numbers are only really a result of poor marketing.
