I start with this:

You can hover the colored corner to quickly see how many jobs the family has.

If you're not playing with gender-neutral rules, old ladies with high charisma make for great spies! Every woman past childbearing age goes a'spyin'!

"Daddy, where's grandma?"

"Sabotaging Macedon's war effort, son."

Other trick for people who play with normal geneder rules: not a loyla head of a family? Grandpa will go for the spinogae mission so often unteil they kill him. Charisma around zero, but not loyal? Here we go to get intel from Egypt.

Did you know that while you cannot drill Legions marching you can let them happily exercise while being transported on ships?

Feeding vassals is one option to expand without AE in a area which is not worth it. You dont get AE by feeding them. Of course the provinces revolt. But you are called in such wars as a overlord and can easy beat them. IDont forget to start the intergration process. meanwhile . You can feed and intgerate a tthe same time. It will just delay the process. When i play Rome i feed Gallia and iberia to vassalls. But i let some provinces alive to get the missions.

Military tradition exploit:

Devs nerved it, but it still working. You raise all your levies. After 10 months you desolvfe them again. Free tradition progress. Choose invetions with starting exprince bonuses to boost it.

Some more tricks:
1.
There is no reason to turn people into tribesmen.. But there is a reason to turn them into slaves. For example you conquer Carthage as Rome. All of them are wrong religion and culture. You turn them into slaves. Then you choose a policy which promote and demote pops faster. Slaves are faster to assimilate and create less unrest. But what is more important: you can move them around. You move all the slaves into a town with a port. You create a heavy overpopulation. People start to migrate into italy with a 100% speed into random italian towns. There they are in the minority and assimilate and convert faster. The remaining pops are few and assimilate even faster. All your problems are solved in like 10-15 years when we speak about unrest.

Also a cheesy trick: you enslave a pop like 10 years before you go for war with their main area. After conquest, you free them all they are 5% happier for a while.

2. Use smalll AI driven armies to get slaves and avoid micro. Carpet stance is the way to go.

3. When a family needs a job, but has only inbreed people: there is always space in the fleet to command over a single ship.

4. Avoid corrupt researchers. Even high skilled they reduce the speed. Give them other jobs. There is also a invention in the oratary tree whoch gives you a option to reduce corruption without loaylity debuff. (Edit: outdated or wrong advice for now)

5. In wars against major powers: dont ask for vassal provinces: they cost more. Eat only the overlord. After his death they will go indepndent .

6. In italian miltary tradition tree is a option to colonize with the army. You go into the empty province and build a fort. It costs only menpower. Right now menpower is not a issue with big empires. You can colonize everything very fast. The army needs a strenth of 5, a commander and cohorts which are noot loyal. Choose a commander who is about to die anyway soon for this.

7. Roads give a bonus for trade, assimilation and convertion. Its tacking when a province has 5 connections to provinces around it , you get more. Place towns with so many provines around as possible.

8. Dont forget to give commanders of a legion a triumph to get the 10% more morale legacy for the legion. Never retreat with your legions to avoid the negetive legacy. Its impossible to remove them. When you need to pillage a holy site use mercs or levies.

9. There is a pretty expsnive option to get more "relics" into your capital. You switch to a useless god, place the holy site and the rlic and switch again. Stability hits.

10. You can switch ideas all the time. In the past there was a stability hit. Now you need only to pay with influence. You can for example collect a lot of money and switch to lower building cots for one month. Or to switch for the warscore reduction.

11. Agressive expansion impact reduction means not that you get less impact while having high AE. It means you collect less. Go for belli stance before you are about to sign a peace. Tyranny decreases AE faster.

Not exactly free, levies standing have a monthly cost in manpower, money and research points

This is true. But with some inventions you can get 200 xp as a big empire through this.. Its worth the problems. I mostly use it on the last 10 months of a war. Then everybody goes into mobilization.

Easy way to remove forts: Choose fort in macrobuilder and right click on a territory with fort. Use fortification mapmode to locate forts easier.

This works with other buildings too. For other buildings a territory with chosen building is highlighted with purple lines.
Barracks, Forums and Tribal Settlements are quite useless so better remove them and get some refund.

Edit: click right, not left

4 - Is that so? I didn't saw such things in ingame tooltip.
5 - Demanding subjugation instead of annexing costs less. Recommended to do this to save PI.
8 - You can desecrate holy sites of gods that doesn't belong your state religion without worrying.

Indeed, I would be interested in some more details here, as I'm not aware of any impact (aside from a occasional event about a "corrupt researcher" you can support for quick progress in on tech field in exchange for hurting research overall. But I don't think that is in anyway related to the corruption figure of the researchers or what @Vernichtere is refering to here probably)

My info is obviously outdated. I dont know if it was just event driven or just before the hotfix. It does not appears anymore. I saw this before by holding the mouse over a pop: corrupt researcher. Does not work anymore. Will check it in longer runs. But right now: wrong advice :)

5. It works only when you have free slots for clients in proper ways. You probably dont want to adopt all the carthagian clients for a while.
6. Nice to know. I play on iron man. After i made a mistake in one run to sescrate a s"stolen" holy site" i stopped further experiments.

Do not be afraid to take tributaries, they do not use a slot and do not help on wars, but you do not need them, don’t you? After some time if you are nice, they will offer to become your client state for free.

Corrupt researcher is a event that gives +85% progress in a tech field, but -35% research for 10 years. Can happen if there's a researcher with 2+ power base. (Not related to character corruption)
IMO it's quite good event when you are already far ahead of time.

My problem is slot control. My slots are filled with clients a feed. There is no space for a otherone province state trying to avoid the fast death. Yes you can do so. My advice is more or less for people who try to directly annex other people vassals. Its a noob mistake to try Carthaginian city vassals. You pay a lot of war score for this. Your tip is also working for tribals. I try to build roads in their lands to help them to develop faster.

The Legion Honors of Pia and Impia which you got for desecrating a holy site of your and another Religion repectively can overwrite eachother without limits. So you can get rid of one of your own and then with same legion get the Pia trait, overwriting Impia.

Keep all those little tributaries around. They'll grow and have large numbers of trade goods to buy all your export goods and generate tons of commerce money (further enhanced if you switch to an export focus for your commerce option and tech). One little city tributary can have over 8 trade routes.

Relatedly, when a string of countries pop up asking for a good, don't just accept the first one you see - prioritize your tributaries and client states, especially for high-value and strategic trade goods. This way you'll get less disruption to your commerce cash when a war breaks out.

Do not switch to legions early. Do it maybe 100-150 years in to the game. Since you wont be able to afford even a full legion plus this would mean sacrificing something like 50% of your levy size.
