Kaiserreich sounds good. How about One of the China's? Or, if you want a small nation, Mongolia?

Manchuria might be interesting. Especially if Japan freaks out again.

Both Austria and Hungary have some pretty interesting paths too, but that's another balkan heavy run.

Kaiserriech would allow another Italy run, with the cast dropped in and really weirded out.

Kaiserreich also has socialist Mussolini. That could be interesting if the two versions meet.

Old World Blues of course has the Legion for a Roman equivalent. Not sure how the main cast would fit in there, but it could provide for even more wacky scenarios given the normally insane shenanigans of the Italian government will be tame compared to everyday Fallout.

In the Legion? Hm...well, Kaboom would fit right in, Catastrophe is a bit too sensible, Beancounter and Alan would be disgusted by the Legion, and Cheesolini would be aghast at how badly his counterpart has set the Legion up for short to long term failure (something he himself took great pains to avoid in Imperial Cheese 1 forming his own Roman Empire).

Getting appointed commanders shouldnt be too hard, a coup following their successes (and the rest of the Legion's many failures) also wouldnt be too hard. Then standard procedure - Cheesolini is god-emperor super-genius with magic PPowers, his posse are suprisnlgy competent...and they'll somehow find a way to keep the Legion alive at least a little longer (though their long term prospects are screwed unless they really can turn into a proper agricultural civilisation based around New Vegas. If they can do that, esepcially if they convince the Legion to acept all those robots they will certainly be stealing from Mr House, all the easier).

Mr House would be an excellent straight-man/Churchill analouge. Also pretty mad under the surface but utterly bewildered by the firgtheningly competent Legion, and does a pretty good job of trying to fend them off...

Kaiserreich also has socialist Mussolini.

Ah! I was hoping he'd have a direct shadow character. That could be very interesting indeed...

Imperial Cheese Part 3: Into the Cheesolini-verse.

I'm certainly inclining towards Universal Monster titles at this point. House of Cheese, Bride of Cheese, Cheesolini meets the American etc. etc.

...

Currently I have planned:

  • Finishing this 'historical' run
  • Turkish Delight. Ottoman Madness. Already played two years on deliberate full-random this time. Very...interesting.
Add to that (?):
  • A Legion playthrough
  • A Kaisereich Red Italy playthrough

It turns out whatever the new update did fixed save game rollback and so we can continue this run!

That's good.

However, I'm in the middle of the next aar run (using the new, HIGHLY CONTROVERSIAL country pack) and enjoying it quite a bit despite bizarre goings on. I will say that until it is dialed back a bit, the new Hapsburg option a lot of countries have is very OP and leads to a lot of chaos but some fun too.

If the AI does that by itself in games to come, it might become an issue though...

So, we shall continue on with this run once the current game ends, and we'll see how this most cursed of..

Ahem...

'Historical timelines'

Ends.

I'm also still researching and writing for TBTM, and almost ready to start writing my CK2 retrospective AAR, tentatively titled 'The Burning Earth'.

Did someone say Kaiserreich? I absolutely LOVE Kaiserreich!

My old computer couldn't run Kaiserreich, but I've tried some games with it recently with my new one. It's a really well done mod.

If TBC wants, there's also Kaiserredux. It's the same world as Kaiserreich, but with more whacky, "out there" alt-hist paths.

Well, it's a possibility, certainly.

The whole premise is a bit of a stretch (the UK falling to socialism...mmm).

But yes, it looks interesting.

It is easily my favorite DH mod. The one for HOI4 seems decent also.

To fulfil my long standing duty towards contrarianism I will be the lone voice not being a fan of Kaisereich. Mostly for similar reasons I'm not impressed by vanilla HOI4 in fairness, but I've disliked KR since HOI2 so I feel I am at least consistent on this.

To be mildly helpful;

Millennium Dawn is generally quite barking mad, or was last I looked
Been ages since anyone did a WW1 Mod AAR. Steps on the toes of TBTM a bit, but making it the focus not the (very extended) prologue is different.

Is that what i hope it is and a modern day one?

Italy could do some interesting things there. Do much better in the italo-turkish war for Libya (or just take their freebies deal of the land but technically under ottoman rule), then intervene in the balkan war for cheap land, then stay out of ww1 until I know I can take Austria out.

Steam Link - Starting date is 2000 which I still think of as modern day, but the calendar insist was 25 years ago. Which can't be true as that would mean I'm old.

I'm morbidly curious how the HOI4 AIs manage Jutland and the North Sea naval war in general. Badly obviously, but how badly?

The temptation there is to switch to a UK playthrough so I both roughly know what's going on and make more jokes. Otherwise it'll be Italy and completely making stuff up as per usual.

United Ireland, annexing Iceland during the cod wars, telling Bush no...many possibilities.

I can't imagine it comes up. There isn't an Atlantic war in vanilla HOI4 so unless the focus tree grants certain off map buffs/debuffs, there won't be a blockade in ww1.

OK so it appears the mod starts in 1910 before Italy goes to war with the ottomans. So it actually covers the really big stuff of the twilight edwardian era, buildup to war, war, etx.

This could be interesting for various playthroughs. Useful for maps for TBTM too...
