I rather like my current position, so I'm a little hesitant, but if noone else are gonne take it, I can. The biggest problem is that I still havent figured out how to take screenies.

I don't think anyone should have to give up their current character - he can just act as 'regent' for Kaiser Nicholas.

To take screenshots, simply press F11 during the game. The shots are placed into the Crusader Kings Directory.

I could do it (with a new, regent char) but only from next week. If existing players don't want the slot. And if the save file proves Mac-friendly, which it should.

Playing the substitution. I'll probably mess something and tell things wrong, but there it goes... :).

Update: three years on, we're at war from Cuman to Scotland (and the heir apparent is a NPC). But not to worry, the Emperor's 54 and ill... :D. By the way, I think Arnold de Flandre is not a player. Please correct me if otherwise, as I'm about to snuff him a bit.

One question. After the NPC al-Amiri, the likeliest successors now are D'Oraz, Aarlander and Sejanus, van Holland (another NPC?), el Even, Muffin, de Bretagne (NPC?), de Flandre (NPC) and Nakonid (NPC?).

Since the Emperor is 54 and ill, maybe it would be interesting to start shifting some of the new duchies and lands to the player that should be emperor next. Just so as to avoid another "regency", it'd be useful to know who's able to take the next slot, or if there's some agreed order that I've missed (I'm a bit asleep). Besides, if I don't, the Emperor's heir would probably be quite powerful and you'd have the same problem all over again in two turns.

You may also consider recruiting new players for the new big duchies ;).

Last but not least, I assume there's no unwritten rule against grabbing someone else's throne, is there?

I'll try to finish the wars off before he drops

Sorry to insist :) but I need to know who should receive a bucketful of counties and duchies... the old boy has got realm duress but he keeps adding.

Current order: de Aquitaine, d'Oraz, Aarlander, al-Amiri, Sejanus, El Even, Kendall (I warned you), de Flanders, van Holland, Muffin.

Right now I have two or three counties coming ready for redistribution, and five duchies to be created. So let's hear who wants to be next :).

Well... van Aarlander just got ahead of the NPCs. The emperor's got leprosy, but he won't drop off.

I just edged him ahead of the NPCs with an extra duchy. The Kendall candidate has gone back some spaces due to having died and the current heir being a kid.

Please don't be hesitant to award my proud el even dynasty some extra land.

I might have to reinstall the game because of me adding selfmade kingdoms, but O can manage.

Just as soon as Duke Juan stops poking at me in the eye :).

OK, Crimea for you :D. Duchy and four provinces, which probably make you the next in line. If someone else shows up, there's more where those came from.

I really hope Nicholas dies soon. It's been thirteen over-eventful years :), and opportunities to do mischief keep appearing...

Updated: Juan el Even just jumped to second place in the succession. Let me insist: we have several new duchies that can shift the balance toward whoever you want to play next... so if the player who drives the van Aarlander doesn't speak up and you confirm your interest (and nobody says otherwise) we'll give el Evens another little push.

That could be a bit tricky if van Aarlander is in the running for the throne, as I've not seen Iain on the forum for quite some time. If Johan is now the next in line, great. If not, and you are still looking for the next Emperor, I'm happy to throw my hat into the ring. Then things can truly descend into chaos with a von Morningsider on the throne!

The chaos part I can promise :D. The Empire is sprawling... this evening the vassals just decided to go crusading at last, and I've never seen such a swarm.

So we have el Evens (with possible technical trouble) and von Morningsider (who would need some land injections since I've boosted el Even quite a bit... but since Sicily seems to get uppity...). Johan11, please confirm availability, and we can toss a coin :).

I really need to end the game :D.

Glad to see this great AAR revived :D. Hope my Van Holland dynasty is doing allright.

I'm in. I caneasily reinstall, I will just make backup files of my eidts. no technical abnormalities. Anything to keep morningsider away from the throne.

Flying, I just checked...

The Van Hollands seem to have been cruelly turned from their historical seat by either the last emperor or his descendants at Lower Lorraine. I can't find any Van Holland in the area.

If you care for a bit of revenge, Lower Lorraine is at 35% loyalty and has gathered a lot more power than is good for it. I can stop trying to bribe it... but we still won't have a claimant to give the county to.

On the other hand, there's a Van Holland-Lotharingen dynasty that is doing quite well. They're finalists for the throne. I don't know if they're relations...

That's Duchie's clan. I moved them to Sunny Milan after his boss, the future Dark Emperor Gabriel (Vesimir) turfed them out of Holland.

That's assuming the whole concern doesn't blow up in the next few in-game weeks :). Would be a fitting end to the expansion years.

The poor emperor has stats close to zero, very bad Council members (a 10 looks good in that company), no money, and realm duress. So even stable pillars of community dream of rebellion. Either he dies or I freak out from stress :D.

I may try to start a nice assasination war to get rid of him... although even Counts have better spymasters.

Well... there it goes. I'm going to give el Even the edge in the succession (first come first served), and I won't leave the seat until the Emperor is dead :).
