The games multiplayer mode has been buggy for years. Now they finally have a solution. Not in form of a patch but in form of an easy to install mod (seriously... just download one file and copy it somewhere). I would not call that abandoning the game. Quite the contrary...So it's been over 8 months now since the multiplayer aspect of the game was abandoned and no longer works (while I appreciate the mod, it's not actually a part of the game and cannot be listed as content), will the Steam page be updated and remove "Online PvP" and "Cross-Platform Multiplayer" or should I contact Steam about that instead?
It was announced back when the fix was developed and deployed. I just checked and it looks like since that announcement wasn't pinned, it fell off the Steam discussion topics. Thanks for re-posting it on Steam.PS: @TinyWiking : Do you have an option to announce this patch via steam? Just a text line, reading "Multiplayer patch avaiable. Visit official forums..."?
I am concerned that the SHA1 of the extracted dll does not match the sum originally posted. Here is a version of the files stored on the forum, as the Google Drive link seems to have broken.
I created a zip file from my own copy of the original files after the original archive was removed. Obviously, I am not able to recreate the original hash. If this is a showstopper for you, then I can only point you to the recommendations of others that have downloaded the file since it was posted at the end of last year. It is not a malicious file.I am concerned that the SHA1 of the extracted dll does not match the sum originally posted.
Original posted BtMpFix.dll SHA1:
be1617a8212e1e2d5c485843de0c165e56078f3c
The BtMpFix.dll you posted SHA1:
43d4569452e99615c796df100abbf15d7ec06c02
That worked! Thank you. Thanks! Very helpful. You've placed the files in the wrong location. As per the first post, the folder with the BtMpFix files should be placed in "C:\Users\{user_name}\Documents\My Games\BattleTech\mods" Where you've placed the files is where you'd put things like ModTek mods.
That sounds like you're running into this bug. If so, the workaround is to either have both games set to English, or neither game set to English.downloaded mod lets us launch a game but immediately gives us a network error and disconnects when skirmish starts.
Got the mod to work but game crashes when my son tries to join the lobby, Does the mod fix not work with ADD-ONS?It will not automatically show up. The mod download location is mentioned in the first post of this thread. Please follow all of the steps there and let us know if you run into problems.
