I still don't understand why our saves can't be adapted to the new upgrade/DLC. Hours of good gaming turned to garbage.

I think its a small price to pay if the map will be eventually updated. Although it is frustrating to see that your savegame is ruined, fortunately you can always begin a new campaign.
After all, its just a game.

If savegames are broken anyway with no map changes there's no reason not to improve the map really. And this patch gave new idea groups and government reforms to try so I would have started a new game anyway.
