I just ran an old game that died 13th dec with the 1.05c upgrade, and I notice that it can sometimes be impossible to win across river attacks.

I'm using hard difficulty, playing the russians with nearly all army techs (at semi modern) and attack with nine full divisions across the Po river against a single italian division with 92/62 org status and got completely wiped out. Same thing against Manchucko. If I go around the river, I win in hours but if I attack across a river I will fight for a week before I win, if I'm not wiped out.

I'm not sure if I've played hard diff before, but I didn't notice anything like this in very hard diff. using hoi 1.05

I've looked through the change logs, but no terrain stuff is mentioned that I've found. Anything worth looking into?

The only thing that comes to mind would be that perhaps, when attacking across the river, the river penalty brings your effectiveness to 1%. That would put the no-river attack at, what, 20%? A 20:1 ratio in attack effectiveness would certainly be noticable.

It could be other wierd changes that effect your game.
It is always best to start a new game with a new version.
