Placing buildings optimally is currently a bit of a guessing game. It would help if when placing a building that needs to interact with a surface feature, the game would highlight the hexes that overlap.
For instance, when placing a concrete extractor, highlight the hexes of the harvesting area that are on valid concrete resource nodes. When placing metal, rare metal or water extractors, highlight the resource node indicators that are in range.
