I think you will like the next version of the IGC Config tool. You will be able to toggle various IGC scenario options on and off before you play the game. These are the ones I've already implemented:

'Hartmann's Alternatives':
1) Independent Ireland
2) Austrian Netherlands (exclusive with 3)
3) Austro-Spanish Netherlands (exclusive with 2)

'Scandinavian COTs'
4) COT in Skåne
5) COT in Copenhagen (exclusive with 4)
6) COT in Stockholm (exclusive with 4)

'Various'
7) Super Hansa (Like in the regular GC)
8) Independent Bretagne
9) Independent Norway (for all those Norwegians out there!)

What other options would you like to see? Personally I would like to include Oranje's model for an independent Holland as an option.

Hi, i´m just wondering, most of the leaders of Ottomans pops up under wrong time, or they have wrong status, like 'Ibrahim' being 'Monarch' during the time of Selim I, he was a grand visir under the Suleyman I time. Also i lack Selim I and Suleyman I as field commander. Can i help with Ottomans? I will get my 10 volumes of Ottoman History soon so i could make the leaders of the Ottomans pretty accurate.....

God Bless you Hartmann, Doomdark, & McGuinn!

The IGC rocks and it looks soooo good! The guys at Paradox may wish to subcontract some work to you for all the things you have done to improve their great opus.

As an option for the IGCConfig, I'd like to see the alternate French/English start (no Joan of Arc) where the English still own large parts of France.

The other options are meant to be interpretations of actual history (somewhat defensible, anyway), but I might include some alternate history options as well. :)

..and maybe we could finally have the great Piri Reis included at least in the IGC? :)

Yeah, which one of them made the first map over America? Piri Reis or Piyale? We could make one of them Explorer instead of the fictional one 'Ahmed or something' Ottomans gets.....

You have my blessings for the inclusion of Piri Reis :) If You will give me all the adjusted data for the Ottoman files, I will implement them. But even better (for me) would be, if You do the files Yourself and send them to me. If You need additional IDs, please go to the 'free IDs' thread and claim them.

Ok, but i wont get my books before the end of the month, and about tweaking the files, do you have a FAQ or something about how to do it?

Hmm, just load the files monarchs.tur and leaders.tur into notepad and have a look. I think You will understand how this is structured by just looking at them. If You have any specific questions, feel free to ask me. Anyway, You don´t need to prepare the files, if You feel uncomfortable with it. I will be happy to implement any info I get from You. The info should include correct names, correct servicedates, category (monarch, general, explorer, conquistador, admiral) and stats. The values for monarch abilities go from 0-9, for leader abilities from 0-6. You should always take given stats (if availlable) as a basis from where You start. The changing of stats for existing leaders and the stat attribution to new leaders shouldn´t be exaggerated - this happens easily if one gets excited by his own research. It´s always a good idea to compare the to be researched leaders with leaders of other nations around the same time (the 'rivals') and look at the stats already given to these in the game. Whereas the leader values range from 0-6, we only use 0-3 for the siege value. It should almost always be 0. Only known siege experts get 1, only super siegers get 2 and the max in siege is 3 for real legends (probably in Turkey´s file, most will have 0 and some will have 1).

Thanx for caring. :)

Inca and Peru

The Incan (European name) nation is a great money maker once conquered. But historically it was not as easy to conquer or exploit as it is in the game. And for gameplay, a little more of a challenge would I think add to replayability and hopefully make for less linear strategies.

A bit of historical info to back this up:
Pizarro had the good fortune to encounter the Incas during a civil war, and played like he was helping one side when he was actually destroying their armies and conquering them. The Incan emperor finally managed to escape after a couple of years and his revolt almost threw out the Spanish. The Spanish lost a number of battles, but reinforcements from Spain finally turned the tide. The Incas ruled a part of their state afterwards for another 30 or so years, slowing any colonization attempts, before the Spanish finally conquered them totally.

How to simulate that in the game? For one, the leader files for the Inca should be at least the equal of the Aztecs, not worse as currently (probably even better). The Incas had conquered all city-states around them (unlike the Aztecs) and ruled one of the largest empires in the world. Also, the Incas won numerous battles against the Spanish and survived another 30+ years after losing their capital, unlike the Aztecs.
A revolter nation of Peru would be a good idea as well. The Incas did historically 'revolt' and maintain a remnant state for decades. Interestingly enough, a brother of Pizarro also revolted and made Peru independent in the 1500s before Spain reconquered it. And Tupac Amaru II had a major revolt against the Spanish in the 1780s, so the later revolting potential was there as well.
Any comments or suggestions?

I agree about the easy Incas. I'm playing my first game as Spain (hardest/furious) and Cortez with about 14000 men conquered the Incas in the 1520s in a really short campaign. How about giving them some minimal forts? Aztecs were conquered earlier fairly easily too. Cortez had nothing else to do so he just conquered the Iroqois (1527) - they were the toughest because all their provinces have minimal forts. Pizarro stands unused! The only thing keeping me out of Asia is the early deaths of my explorers (Magellan discovered a few sea areas in the Pacific and then promptly died).

That gives me an idea. How about using IGC Config (or something like it) to tailor games for the human player. For example, when the human player is Spain, give the Aztecs and Incans Minimal/Small forts. Change things around specifically to make the game more challenging for the human player. There could be a set of changes for each Major nation. I think the biggest problem with the game as it is, is the ease with which a Major nation can win - gets very boring. Yeah, I could make the changes myself but something can be said for a standard that several players use. I'd rather play the same game that others are.

Good idea about the forts, and also historical. The fortress of Sacsayman near Cuzco is a massive wonder still today, and one of the fiercest battles the Spanish fought was to reconquer it after the Incas revolted. I think the mountain provinces of the Incas should all have forts, in truth. The Inca nation survived for another 30+ yrs after the loss of Cuzco due to their use of the mountain terrain and fortified areas in them. Almost all the battles the Inca won were in the mountains, where the Spanish horsesmen (like modern tanks) are quite hindered.
The Aztec capital was also fortified, in that it was on a lake. Cortez had to seige it to recapture it, and the smallpox epidemic raging inside greatly helped him.
So IGC people, what about it? Some minimal forts for the Incas and possibly Aztecs?

In early stages of the IGC I have tried giving some fortresses (e.g. Cuzco) to Aztecs and Incas. Problem is the Spanish AI, which doesn´t seem capable enough...

@Robo: Interesting idea, I will talk to Doomie about that. :)

Is there any way to increase the revolt risk for a time for the Incas? At least through the 1500s, to simulate the actual struggle to finally conquer them. And possibly include more than their home province if they revolt. Also, would adding a moderate Incan army on the border provinces where the Europeans attack be actually useful for their defense?

Well, the next version of the IGCConfig will have options to turn certain features on and off. It would be a simple matter to include an option to switch Incan and Aztec forts on, but it would be something the player would have to switch on manually in the IGCConfig--it could not automatically be detected if a human happened to be playing Spain.
