The third gpw event fires on july the 30th. 201 german divisions vs. 251 soviet ones.
The fourth gpw event fires on november the 2nd. 212 german divisions vs. 245 soviet ones.
It is not perfect, but it has been severly worse before. Germany was near moscow in late october.
Unfortunatly the front got stuck a bit too early. But this was without reloading, 50% of german armour was not at the front.

I reload this save.
The third gpw event fires on july the 12th. 199 german divisions vs. 236 soviet ones. The soviets lose their intel disadvantages.
The fourth gpw event fires on july the 19th. 201 german division vs. 211 soviet ones. The germans lose their surprise advantages.
The fifth gpw event fires on july the 26th. 201 german divisions vs. 205 soviet ones. The soviet have now full max org. But Leninggrad has fallen by now.
A few days later Kiev falls, Odessa falls on july the 29th.
The last gpw event fires on august the 10th. 202 german divisions vs. 193 soviet ones. The soviets have now full moral. Moscow is threatened from 3 provinces but yet unattacked.
In late august the soviets take Kursk but lose it a few days later.
After losing Leningrad the soviet have increased their troops in Murmansk to 15. :mad:
In early september moscow is defended by only 5 soviet divisions and therefore attacked. In mid of september it is grey.
In late september a small spead head of 1 mot+1 Arm advances into a undefended stalingrad.

Why the hell does the soviet ai masses troops in Finnland and does not use the highly fortificated provinces like stalingrad, Leningrad and Moscow as a defence? :mad:

Because it's the AI :p It anything can go wrong, the AI will make it so.

Again SOV failed to defend Moscow althouh they neglected the south. Germany advances trough Baku and Persia into india while still fighting near Swerdlovsk.

Bitter Peace triggers on november the 24th in 1943. The soviets have 180 manpower left but need 205 manpower to reinforce. Germany has lost about 20 division due to low strenght and the remaining divisions need about 500 manpower for reinforcement.

Germany declares war on soviet union a second time on april the second in 1947. Most of the front is frozen at his point in time. But in Syria the front is solved soon and near jerusalam german forces meet the us army. The us armoured divisions attack soon but mechanized german troops need little time for an counter attack. When Suez is threated the USA invade India. This Invasion is undone after a few weeks. At Suez germany advances into Egypt but has to stabilize the front at port said. Italy is then invaded by us forces. In august 1947 germany has 600/364 IC, reaches Cairo and controlls the rare rich provinces of the USSR. Meanwhile JAP dominates the pacific with a fleet of 23 carriers. In october Novosibirsk falls, the USSR is down to 30 divisions. Egypt is blue again, but Suez is grey.
In 1948 CHI is low on manpower and uses Bai Chongxi has Chief of Staff. This helps to drive the 110 Inf of JAP very very slowly off the continent.
In march 1948 Tannu tuva is annexed. In April 1948 the USSR is down to zero divisions. CHI retakes Nanjing, but loses it again. In late april MON is annexed.
In may USA invade the west border if italy. This drops italys ic by 60%. US force advance into Innsbruck, Salzburg and Munich. A few weeks later german Panzers close that pocket.
In june germany reaches the east costs of russia. SOV is annexed by august the 11th in 1948. Germany has not liberated SIB by then. Why?

Code:
# The countries we will set free if we control their territory.
liberate = {
	LIT
	FIN
}

This is was ai doc says. This it what german ai section in savegame says:

Code:
liberate = { SIB }

PS: Territories of IRQ and SYR were not transfered to axis nations by Bitter Peace. That needs to be adjusted.

Why the hell does the soviet ai masses troops in Finnland and does not use the highly fortificated provinces like stalingrad, Leningrad and Moscow as a defence? :mad:

For AI I would add locked garrisons in these cities.

Another case: playing on very hard/furious as Germany, even taking on Poland looks difficult because they reinforce fast with cavalry divisions everywhere you attack and stall the offensive. Dropping paratroopers on undefended Warsaw upset their ballance and they collapse quickly, but with a garrison there thing would get very interesting :)

This is kinda stealing the idea from a mod but would it be possible to give the AI free off-map supplies to cover all the locked units it has to supply?

Those locked GAR divs should then be with Art brigade so it won't fold that easy. I don't see the need for offmap supplies as they won't consume that much.

Some oddities from looking at SOV AI and AI switch files:
SOV_GER_atwar.ai - has an IC endyear of 1970
SOV_Gear_Up.ai - does not specify provs for bases/radar
sov_1936.ai - has 3 unimportant provs excluded in Garrison AI, may need to be exported to other AI switch files, Front AI province priorities are rather high and evenly distributed amongs the provs with 6.0 except Moscow with 9.0 - what about reducing some by two and increase important provs by 2?

Several other switch files lack an entry for Moscow in their Garrison AI province_priorities

In the 1936 Scenarios SOV starts with 21 Inf-Art and 2 Inf-Eng. I could regroup those divisions into groups of 7-8 divisions in Leningrad, Stalingrad and Moscow. That is not exactly historical, but should prove effective.

Another idea i had on this is using the target command for the AI like the japan AI does. So if those 3 provinces are threatened the provinces nearby would get high prioty to be retaken.

I noticed some odd things about how the AI handles manpower shortness.

1. After BP SOV had about 20 lines of Infantry and all of them were stopped because no manpower is invested into them. If this is the case and no manpower is available the AI should be allowed to delete those lines.
2. If there is a shortness on manpower practically no ic is put on production and supply stockpiles skyrocket. The AI should finish existing production lines that donnot need additional manpower first. This is especially true for german fortifications(Atlantikwall) and JAP Carriers. This harms the pacific theatre quite much.
3. If there is a shortness on manpower, how are reinforcements priotized? I saw it quite often, that the germn airforce is not reinforced due to a lowness on manpower. :confused:

Manpower shortness has become a very decisive factor.

Moscow should be covered by the capital priority (but this works only if moscow is the capital ^^)

I changed this already. It did help but it did do much less good than expected.

In june germany reaches the east costs of russia. SOV is annexed by august the 11th in 1948. Germany has not liberated SIB by then.

I added 2 events to release SIB as a puppet as liberate does not work as intended. SIB is released on august the 15th. Germany has a defizit of about 215 manpower needed for reinforcements. England is garrisoned by 5 divisions per beach and probably germany will not beat the allies:

The effect of the A-Bomb was quite impressive. Riots all of german controlled territory, ic drops by 100-200 and more than a year is needed to recover from the dissent. Meanwhile Italy switches sides. As soon as dissent is down there is a new bomb at Stuttgart. I think the A-Bombs AI works quite fine. Maybe germany should build some V2?
If you watch the save you can examine quite some late game bugs.

Right now AI germany has little chances of survival after BP. I am thinking of increasing german manpower in that case. Possible solutions are reducing negative effects of the german national ideas or give AI germany some manpower events comparable to those of JAP.

Surely thats a good thing unless you want an invincible Germany.

3 month later the moscow pocket has not be solved. On the contrary, the number of divisions within it has increased from 16 to 32. All(?) new produced units have be deployed there. :eek:
