In my latest play through of mymap I had a couple of odd things happen and encourage a couple based upon those happenings that has yielded a very tasty result.

The first odd thing was I saw the AI achieve English final victory in France; that doesn't happen very often. Now as to the others well I was as near always playing Bavaria....

Since I can't code to save my life (I just can't get the indents, other then that I can type and "get" the overall triggers etc.), I tried to simulate events through save game edits to contest the testament of Jan event for BUR and not let go of the Dutch territories of my dynasty. That worked alright and I was able to recover most but not all of them in a war or three. I then chose to take the "B" option in Albrecht is offered the Bohemian throne, which helped immensely in those wars.

Shortly after that is when things went bad for Bavaria....

After Albrecht' death Bohemia who had prior to my acceptance of the throne vassalized HAB joined into an alliance with them and decided to attack me...Long story short I edited things so that I moved the capital to the low countries and surrendered Bayern to the hated Austrians. And concentrated on contesting things with BUR....

Now here is where it gets all nice and aberrationee:

The Byzantines fell as per usual and since I had the fantasy events on they fled to the Canary islands which I don't particularly like as an option so I edited it so that they took Naples instead. That way Aragon and Provence set aside their claims and don't fight and the ERE stays in the fight against the Turk. BYZ would just have to remain Catholic....

In order to fix some core issues for them as a result of the flee to Africa fantasy option removing them I keyed in a couple of events from the Ottoman file so that they could reclaim them and decided to take option "B" and reclaim the WHOLE of the Roman empire just to penalize them a bit on the badboy.

Which would have been all well and good except for Ionnes X being elected Holy Roman emperor...but I am getting a bit ahead of myself.

Meanwhile the Turks have their own fantasy sequence that plays out for the Kingdom of Turkey that fires. Now I am not familiar at all with this event chain so I didn't see anything unusual concentrating as I was on consolidation in the Lower Lorraine area; until I clicked on Turkey from the diplomat screen to attempt a foolish trade agreement and loe and behold there is an option for royal marriage!

Apparently from reading the log they formed the Western Roman Sultanate and chose the "C" option...which should have formed BYZ again but since it was still around they stayed TUR but went Orthodox and split off Anatolia as a vassal state.

So now I have a Catholic BYZ ruled by the Paleologi family facing the Orthodox TUR/ERE ruled by the house of Osman-Komenos (they diplo annexed TRE), duking it out.

Now back to Ion....When the heir TO Rome is elected King OF Rome...that made me really start to think how I might be playing the wrong guys and how things would play out.

Now I have encouraged it along a bit by keying in the Byz renaissance event so they don't stagnate totally and have a shot at some of the other events that require it to have fired.

I have gotten to just about the time of the Zoe events and the game has played out a bit like I have figured: Byzantium is a client state of the Hapsburgs' who between HAB and SPA have been intermarrying into them for quite a bit and have not dropped out of alliance together for nearly a century with SPA just recently vassalizing them.

So now what I am figuring should likely happen if the events were there to support it is that the Spanish heir would marry Zoe and form a new Imperial dynasty of Hapsburg-Paleologi and truly claim the title of Emperor of the West (because between BYZ, HAB, and SPA they have been HRE virtually all the time). And since BYZ took Rome a while back......

The end game for that entire sequence should likely be the war of the Austrian succession, since there is no France in this game the Spanish succession went to the Austrian branch by default; and this war for succession would be over who Maria-Theresa would marry. The House of Osman-Komenos would love to reunite the two branches of the imperial line but there would definitely be those that would not like to see that come to pass.

The Napoleonic era events or more precisely the age of revolution events would be quite interesting given that the united empire would be the logical choice for the conditions that could lead to a French revolution like chain of events. At least from a game play "fun" aspect if you divee up the French leaders a bit to make it a bit fairer, not totally fair since it would still be likelier then not that the bulk would seek employment in the new Roman empire given the feelings many may have toward the English.

Would Napoleon seek to become first consul of a new Roman republic and if so would it then follow that he would become a new caesar replete with marriage into the imperial house?

Thought I would share this with somebody and this would the likeliest place to find people who would appreciate the non standard outcomes...

That's some crazy shit.

It could all have happened, it's all, in a crazy way, quite believable.

Thanks for sharing it all!

Spain just annexed Byzantium!

And considering the AI that BYZ had as a result of the flee to the Canaries event; an AI that I could not figure a way of getting rid of... Well now the Spanish have colonies in Africa and Australia that they normally wouldn't.

As a result of some events the election for the HRE has gone away from the trio of SPA, BYZ, HAB toward BAY, BRA, & ENG (ENG hasn't been elected yet and I am still emperor as BAY but if I have a hit to my diplo with some of the electors BRA doesn't stand a chance and ENG is the next most popular). Which I would take as some kind of resistance to a Roman reformation.

Now one thing that dawned on me is that I have been playing my alter BAY as a close analog to HOL given the location etc. inclusive of intermarriage into ENG and appropriate religion for the area.

When the William and Mary sequence comes up that is going to be a problem. In reality the only reason that England and the Netherlands were not permanently joined via that marriage was from the lack of heirs. And I have those.

Glad you liked it.
