Hello,

I've been playing a very enjoyable 36-campaign with DDA + DAIM. However, it's now 1946 and the AI for Japan, Italy and Vichy has become totally inactive. They have lots of troops that sits around doing absolutely nothing.

Is this a problem with the game itself, Daim or DDA + Daim? And does anyone know how to fix it? (I have done some minor modding, but I have no idea how the AI works).

I can put up the savefile for download if anyone is interested.

Well, hard to say just like that. Who are you playing? What's the situation?
1946 is very late in the game, it's hard to foresee who's still alive and at war with whom. To make it short: Much work, questionable gain. ;)

By the way, I guess it doesn't hurt pointing out once more that Vichy's AI isn't touched by DAIM.

I'm playing Germany. Had the Bitter Peave with SU, then invaded England + liberated most of Africa... However, at least Italy and Japan became inactive a long time before that.

Ok, good to know. Then I probably can't blame this on DAIM at all. Does anyone know any way to "trigger" an AI-wakeup (in the console or in the savefile)?

Reloading helps, in fact a save & reload once or twice per game year usually is a good thing.

Put the savefile for download somewhere if you want, I'd take a look to see if there's something odd going on with the AIs.

Unfortunately not in this case.

Thanks! You can get it from:

Edit: There are some Vichy troops moving around in this savefile, but that's just because I took fullcontrol over them to get them going.

I'm not sure where the problem is, your war is won anyway. Invade the US and be done with it! :p

Like I said, Vichy isn't touched by DAIM and its AI files are rather defensive which is the right thing in my opinion.

As for Italy, what do you want them to do? The Mare Nostrum is secured and everybody is happy. Do you want them to invade the US?

Japan could be more active, the point is that they switched to defensive mode at some point (like Italy, by the way), because of some islands being taken away by the US, I guess. This might be something for Spocky to look into: Currently there's no way to come back for Italy or Japan once they decided to be defensive.

It's very difficult to judge the overall strategic situation by events though, especially in the Pacific with lots and lots of islands. If done improperly, the AI commits suicide by throwing away its troops and ships in mindless operations.

The triggers are very complex for a game back from defensive but maybe I have an idea for a tweak
