I think maybe I went a little too nuts by giving the Inca empire Latin and other high tech groups in some events. So I have fixed that, after criticism. Now the most the Incas can ever get to is the China tech group if they decide to accept Catholicism, this is the second worst tech group, and they still have to work for it, so I don't think it is that easy for them. But if anyone has any constructive criticism about that or any other aspect of these events please let me know, I want to make them as perfect as possible.

Most of the Inca recruits sensing that the battle was hopeless, did not participate and instead gathered and watched. The tide of battle swiftly turned, however, when Inca Yupanqui went straight for the Chanca idol, capturing it. When the spectators saw the Chanca armies panic, they instantly joined the Inca side. This victory earned the young prince the title 'Pachacuti', which means Lord Cataclysm. And sparked a spree of conquest that would continue until the death of Huayna Capac, some 90 years later."

Pachacuti literally evacuated the town of Cuzco to rebuild it into the spiritual headquarters of the empire. One way in which he did this, was to take the 'huacas', or holy objects, from the nations he conquered and moved them to Cuzco, where Inca priests revered them. But at the same time these holy objects were in a sense held hostage, to discourage their respective worshippers from revolting. But perhaps his greatest achievement was the impressive fortress of Sacsahuaman located in the capital of Cuzco. This Massive fortress required 20,000 men 30 years to complete. Ironically though, this same fortress would help the Spanish defend their hold on the city from Inca insurgents less than a hundred years later..."

As indians plundered warehouses, armies once commanded by Inca generals, now charged leaderless against Spanish cavalry, and were quickly broken. Hernando Pizarro, brother of Francisco Pizarro, chose another son of Huayna Capac to replace Atahuallpa. The new Emperor by the name of Manco Inca, did not however have the freedom to rule with absolute power. In fact he was a prisoner in his own palace, humiliated and tortured by the Spanish. As the atrocities against his people became known to Manco Inca, he began to develop a hatred for the Spanish."

Not only this is ahistorical and unjustifiable, it's totally unbalancing.

That was only there to help the A.I. conquer the Chimu as was historically the case. The leaders are made tough because it was the best way to ensure they conquer the Chimu as they did historically. That was my justification, of course keep in mind that most of them are dead before the Spanish arrive, and since the Inca's have no one else to fight, they go unused.

I can significantly tone things down if you wish, but I don't know if they will still have the same success against the Chimu.

The positive events only come during the "golden age" of the Inca empire. After that it is only hardship. What about the negative events? Do you see anything wrong there?

Maybe I gave them too much, I will tone them down.

They do get a barracks at Pachacuti's ascension. But don't worry because they lose this before the Spanish arrive through the plague events.

All the leaders have a high siege rating because of the high attrition in the Andes provinces. Again, to help them against the Chimu. I'll cut the shock rating down.

I've substantially reduced the money they get in research. And I also toned down the shock value of most of the leaders. Does it look better now?

Scratch this one. Incas couldn't build a boat let alone a warship. I hope you're not comparing the rafts to warships?

The Great Plague event should have a trigger on Spain owning Panama.

The leaders are too strong. Siege rating should be 0 or 1. Shock no higher than 2.

I have reduced the land DP setting to only 5 instead of 10. I have eliminated the Quality DP setting entirely. And I have reduced offensive DP setting to only increasing 1 point. Later events will reduce these settings even further.

I have toned this down once again. No longer do they get any bonus for trade research, and I cut the infrastructure bonus in half once more. I also got rid of the free randomly placed fortress (they don't need it anyway, because they can afford their own) And I also doubled the money it costs them for this, from 1000 to 2000. I hope this is better...

I agree they didn't build warships, but they did build rafts and boats. Thor Heyerdahl proved oceanic travel is possible with these same boats. This is tough to decide whether it is historic or fantasy, because it is an Inca legend and we may never know. That was why I made the default historical option to be "this is fantasy". Of course, I understand your points, but I hope it can be at least included as a fantasy option just like the post 1453 Byzantium events. And that also goes for any of my events which go past the historic time the Incas died out, those are all fantasy and should only be optional.

I actually had this as the trigger at first, but when I tested the event, Spain did not always own Panama at the correct date, so it wasn't guaranteed to always trigger. The plagues that swept across the Americas were inevitable. It was introuduced to South America from the Spanish colony at Panama, but it is an absolute certainty that smallpox and other diseases would have struck eventually anyway. And besides, the plague events are critical that they trigger, because they result in the civil war, and thus the weakening of the empire to make the Spanish conquest easier.

The leaders are too strong. Siege rating should be 0 or 1. Shock no higher than 2.

I've reduced all of the leader stats again, except for Tupa Inca and Pachacuti, but please listen to my justification first. These two were the ones who conquered the Chimu and so I gave them high stats to allow the A.I. to do that as it was done historically. I agree with you that as great as these leaders are, their military doctrines were nothing compared to Europeans. But they will never ever face Europeans, because they die in 1471 and 1493, this is long before they have any chance of facing Europeans in combat. If I were to reduce them to 1 shock, they would be worse than the default leaders, and this would hinder their ability to conquer the Chimu.

Do you know of a way to reduce the stats for default leaders of certain countries? If it is possible, I would reduce the stats of all default Inca leaders.

You can lower the shock and fire values to 1 by giving them 0 offensive and quality, respectively, and lowering these values with periodic events to make up for any random events.

There are way too many good things here. And 1000 for Incas is probably nothing anyways. They have to lose smth
I assume you mean that the 1000 ducats is nothing for the Inca. In fact, the 1000 infra/700 trade is nothing, also - in the exotic techgroup, with 100 whiteman still, these are roughly equivalent to giving a European latin-tech country 10 infra/7 trade. The inflation reduction I think is also justified - the Inca did not put nearly the same value on gold as the Europeans did, nor was it as scarce. The event, as with most of these Incan events, merely correct for a flaw in the game system. (I don't agree with the tech group changes, though. Switching to China should be a C option only, with major negative modifiers, not all options in the event as with the current version; and the change to Orthodox is IMO ridiculous. :))

That is a great idea! I'm surprised I didn't think of it. This would weaken them against the Spanish, but at the same time it would give them the increased siege values that they need against the Chimu. The attrition in the Andes is atrocious and I heard High siege values help that, but I've never observed it myself, so I don't know...

Are you saying the research bonus should be increased?

Do you mean Orthodox religion or Orthodox tech group?
Orthodox was meant to represent a merging of the native Inca beliefs with christianity. This I think is more realistic than for them to accept christianity in it's pure form. In fact, this is how it is today, Indians in south America often worship Jesus along side their many other gods. I thought Orthodox best represented this combination of beliefs....

I intentionally put lots of deflation commands inside many of the events for the purpose of coutering the crippling inflation that the Incas suffer. They shouldn't because they did not treat gold as currency.

I also would like to have reduced the amount of money they get from gold, for the same reason. A yearly event that reduces gold from their treasury would have been a good idea. Unfortunately, there is no way to know how much gold they will have at any given time, therefore there is no way to know how much to deduct.

Do you have any ideas for how we can deal with all the money they get from gold that they shouldn't get? I think gold should be treated as a medium value resource to them, not very high, and it shouldn't give them any inflation either.

They won't help with the attrition directly, but they will make the sieges go faster, so the attrition will have less time to make itself felt.

I'd meant the tech group. My apologies; it was late when I glanced through your events, and I didn't reread them before posting.

Hm. What if we start all the Incan gold-producing provinces with a very low mine value (namely, 1), and have a bunch of events that look like
Code:
event = {
        id = #something or other
        random = no
        trigger = {
                NOT = { continent = america }
                owned = { province = 169 data = -1 } #Cuzco
        }
        # country specifier intentionally omitted
        name = "Gold found!"
        desc = "The natives apparently didn't realize its value, but there's gold in them thar mountains!"
        date = { day = 1 month = january year = 1419 }
        offset = 60
        deathdate = { day = 1 month = january year = 1820 }
        style = 1
        action_a = {
                name = "Huzzah!"
                command = { type = mine which = 169 value = 99 } #Normally starts at 100
        }
}
This should take care of the extra money and the inflation both.

I'm sorry, I actually meant the maneuver value... I wasn't thinking. Doesn't the maneuver value affect attrition? And what else does it do besides that? I gave all my Inca leaders high maneuver value for the attrition reason.

I think the Incas (and Aztecs) both have way too many gold producing provinces than they do in reality. I mean, there was alot of gold there, but it wasn't the main resource in some of those provinces then or now. The Incas were more concerned about when to plant their next crops and such, they probably valued Llama wool as much if not more than gold. To them gold was a ceremonial item.

Is it outside the scope of the EEP to alter the resources of provinces? It would solve alot of problems if we could change some of the Inca provinces to wool or salt or even grain than gold. There should still be some gold producing provinces, Potosi province comes to mind. We could compensate for fewer gold producing provinces by boosting the value of the gold producing provinces left. In the Atacama desert region there is alot of salt from ancient seas, Salt should most definitely be the resource here, because it is most abundant. In Cuzco, there could be cloth from woven Llama wool or Chinaware as the resource here. Alot of other provinces could be grain or wool.

Altering province resources would be a great idea for other countries other than the Incas. China for example, perhaps the best example. I think China could use alot more grain producing provines than chinaware. Sure china led the world in production of Chinaware, but that doesn't mean that's all they produced.... What about grain? I'm sure they would have had to grow lots of grain to support their humongous populations.

It would be really great if there was a command that could change the resource of a province through events. That would allow some to change to gold when the Spanish arrive.

I changed the event ids. For whatever reason, they didn't seem to work for me, but now they do.

I also looked over the events again and made a few changes.
