Hi there, a friend of mine bought the NA version, and I got the german version of eu2. We can not play over the internet. The error message says that we have different versions, although we applied the latest patch.
I though that it might be a language problem, and installed on my german version the latest UK patch, but stil.
We also bought HoI, this time european versions, although different languages (this time spanish and english), and we got the same problem until we both applied the english patch.
Yep...this is because you are using the direct internet connection option. This checks to ensure that all of your game files are exactly the same date and time in creation (to avoid crashes) and you and your friend have slightly different files because SF will not have added their copy protection, etc. at exactly the same moment that UBI Germany did.
Fortunately there is an easy work-around...just arrange to meet each other at valkyrienet (vnet) and then start a game from there. It is able to connect players with different publisher versions. Once you actually launch the game vnet hands "control" back over to the host and off you go.
