I've noticed that If you have your Armies grouped and one of them that is in that group's Mother territory is captured by the hethens that the Army doesn't dissolve. But if this same army is solo it will dissolve. I observed the AI as well as my self and it applies to both. Even if the AI has only one territory and he's grouped with an ally he remains even after his country doesn't exist.

That would be a rather big bug... :(

Has anyone seen the same behaviour ?

Thanks for reporting, :)

Just observed today a large, 8000, army of a muslim country in iberian penn. I took his province, Cadiz, but he stuck around. To top this off the province of Cadiz had the create a army icon in it when he re captured it. So he has an army now around 6500 plus that province can spawn a new batch to top it off. Sure sounds buggy to me.

If you take his province his troops become mercenaries. When he takes his province back he can raise troops there plus he still has his mercenaries.

So what determines if the army dissolves or not?

Other than anihilation or disbanding I don't think they dissolve.

EDIT: Attrition can also whittle away an army.
