Hallo, I don't often write in the forum, but I use your mod and, while I really like it, I found the performance terrible.

By the way, it's terrible even on Vanilla game (must still try with new expansion).

However, reading in the main CK2 forum, i found a thread with an interesting solution which I think could be expanded to be included in this mod:

https://forum.paradoxplaza.com/foru...of-game-slow-down.901759/page-3#post-20477472

The idea is to kill (or maybe better, remove without leaving trace, if possible), all the courtiers "unecessary". To make the solution works well I think this killing should be done only in AI courts, maybe increasing the amount of killing the bigger the distance between them and the player.

In addition, one could increase the unlanded "unecessary" (with proper definition to be better found) courtiers death chance and reduce their fertility.

With proper balancing and definition this solution could be "transparent" to the player and smooth the game experience, without removing anything from it... God, one could even have a better performance than vanilla.

This is just an user suggestion, so if it's not doable or it would ruin the game, well, I didn't know...

Maybe something that just... 'fades to obscurity' any character with no title, no close relative with a title, no claims, no close relative with claims, and who isn't on a council, leading troops, or holding some honorary position?

I don't know if that's do-able. I'm no modder.

Thing is, those would all kill courtiers. Maybe 10, maybe 100, maybe 1000.
However, at some point, they would all be dead anyway. And sadly, even though the number of alive characters in the game doesn't grow notably during a campaign, the performance gets worse still after 100 or so years. And worse yet, there is a (to my knowledge) hardcoded "event" that brings random courtiers to any court who doesn't have at least 1 male or female character of fertile age!
Plus you need to keep in mind that the number of characters isn't the only factor limiting speed: trade routes slow it down slightly, as does the number of events, etc. etc.

So the thing is, implementing your idea you might get serious speed improvements in the short run, but in the long run the game will torpedo your efforts :/
Additionally, I for one couldn't stand to see 30 guys in my court drop dead for no reason. It would kill the immersion for me, reminding me that I am playing a game and these characters got killed mechanically. However, that doesn't even matter much considering the problems I pointed out above.

Because the real problem with game speed is that Paradox still has to support single-core (!!!) CPUs for legal reasons, and CK2 features an engine that scales hardly at all with modern hardware. So unless we get a new engine or CK3, all cries for improved performance will most likely be just not techincally possible.

Thanks for reading, and sorry for dampening your spirits.
