I know this is a loaded topic, but the sectors aren't working for me. Having played GalCiv and Distant Worlds forever, I'm quite capable of managing more than 5 planets at a time without feeling the pangs of micromanagement.

Since government types can affect the number of directly controlled planets, I'm guessing that this is a moddable value.

Does anyone know where that value is stored?

What would be the consequence of having that value be 99 or 999 and using sectors at my convenience?

I don't really want to debate whether the game should have sectors. I just want to know if I can fix this on my own (I'm guessing future patches will probably include the option to turn this mechanic off, but I don't want to wait).

It's in the hardrive:\Steam\steamapps\common\Stellaris\common\defines folder in a file called 00_defines.lua for me. Although your folder structure might be different.
The line you want to change is CORE_SECTOR_PLANET_CAP = 5 to whatever number you wish.

I figured it was simple.

Thanks!
