why is it so difficult to join/host a MP game? i disconnected the router, turned off norten internet security and antivirus. cant find a firewall because it says there isnt one running. and i cant join any games because i have the incorrect version. i have installed 1.3a. in the top right corner i get version 1.3a JCLQ. what do these letters mean? i have a friend that has something like FTP. i have another friend that has the same version and we both cant play each other. i tried connecting to an ip but it says we have different versions. im at a lost and have become a bit ticked. any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks /rantoff

You version is the correct one, your friend has a modded file. He needs to reinstall HOI2 with a clean 1.3a.

The version only changes when files are modded manually, also I believe that people that got HOI2 direct from the web cannot play MP games with people who have a boxed version...not sure on that though.

now i look foolish. i figured it out.

Services. earlier in the year i turned off some services. one of these serveices allowed me to access my windows firewall. i had to find the service to open the settings to turn it off. walaa. my title should be "incredibly annoyed at my noob tech skills"
