Hi,

I understand how the revolt.txt file works but I am unsure how the revolt.csv does. How does it affect rebellion values and how does it, if at all, affect whether a rebel Province will indeed declare itself independent?

For instance I am playing as France and, despite my bad boy rating plaguing me with rebellions every time I get warlike, none of my provinces have ever declared independence, even though such rebellions occurred in Provence, Burgundy and Savoy for instance which I know from the revolt.txt file are potential 'newborn' capitals.

How does the engine work on this?

I was also curious how then in the IGC tweaks were made, if any, to ensure Greece, Novgorod and so forth had non-zero odds of being born.

What fun is it if you can calculate everything before hand...To be a bit picky, no monarch during the period could have done so. That means using the 'rules system' is actually cheating. :)

I agree. I love the uncertainty that the game introduces and I would enjoy it less if I could anticipate every event. On the other hand, the game is so neat and mysterious that it also makes me want to 'look under the hood'. I have to retrain myself from snooping too far lest I find gameplay less enjoyable through familiarity with its workings.

Well yeah, but while I Agree with you, I still think it would be nice to know how independence occurred, or at least broadly. I mean why would we celebrate freeing up tags to insert wannabe new countries if they never arose in actual gameplay?
