Summary

India, Iraq, and Persia Can Get Three Special Forces Branch Specializations with Graveyard of Empires

Platform

Steam

Operating System

Windows 11

Game Version

1.16.4

Enabled DLC

  • All of the above

Do you have mods enabled?

No

Description

The Diversify Special Forces decision is normally not made available for countries that can obtain a special forces branch specialization through their national focus tree. This is understandable, as that would allow these countries to get three special forces branch specializations and therefore unlock all three special forces branches.

With Graveyard of Empires, British Raj/India, Iraq, and Persia have national focuses that allow them to get an additional special forces branch specialization, but they are not locked out of the Diversify Special Forces decision. This allows these three countries to get three special forces branch specializations if they become majors, as they can get their second specialization from their focus trees and their third specialization from the Diversify Special Forces decision.

The reason for this is very simple. In common\decisions\_generic_decisions.txt, in the diversify_special_forces entry's visible block (lines 1934-1962), there should be an entry that makes the decision not visible for these three countries if the player has Graveyard of Empires enabled. As this entry is missing, the decision can still show up for them.

Steps to Reproduce

- Start the game as either British Raj, Iraq, or Persia. The 1939 scenario requires less waiting, but the 1936 scenario also works.
- Use console commands to instantly finish the focuses required for the chosen country to get their additional special forces branch specialization. This is "Gurkhas" for Raj, "Special Forces" for Iraq, and "Special Forces Program" for Persia.
- Use console commands to instantly build as many factories as necessary for the chosen country to become a major.
- Unpause the game and wait until 1st January 1940, doing whatever you want as long as the chosen country remains a major power.
- Open the decisions tab and scroll down to the Diversify Special Forces decision. Click it, potentially cheating in enough Political Power to do so.
- Notice that the chosen country now has three special forces branch specializations. To confirm that they have three, cheat in the technologies for Marines I, Mountain Infantry I, and Paratroopers I, cheat in 100 army, naval, and air XP, and then take the opening doctrines for all three special forces doctrines without any need for further cheating.
