I'm really going ham in my current game, and I haven't reached the limits yet, not by far. I'm 6 sectors big, empire size over 5000, almost 1 million pops and still about 500k short to fill all available jobs. Emperor of the galaxy, 2047 of 3500 fleet capacity in use with almost 2 million fleet power plus the Imperial Armada. My economy churns out between 6k and 21k surplus of every ressource, 71k research and over 81k unity. My energy credits ringworld is nearing full capacity, the food ringworld is starting to perform, I can soon turn all my remaining energy and food planets into ecumenopolises. The unity ringworld is being built, I need millions over millions of unity to ascend all my 67 worlds to level 10.
My next goal ist to challenge and crush the fractured hive mind fallen empire. They are the strongest by far, but once my fleet sits in the last memory sytem they have nowhere to run, nowhere to hide. The Holy Guardians were on my direct border, already conquered. The fallen empires will drop one by one, preventing the war in heaven before it can even start. And the crisis will meet a strong unified galaxy under Pax Galactica.
I love that all of this is possible in Stellaris, no other 4x space strategy game goes that deep into the rabbit hole. Of course the performance is terrible, so the game takes days, weeks and months, but that is ok. The most recent savegame always waits for me when I have time and want to play.
