I just maxed out Trade and Infra in 1686.

I still like the idea of being able to have an infinite number of additional techs that provide a very small bonus.

Way back when (I made a thread about it... somewhere) I got to about 280,000 ducats, with 2% inflation. The rules were a bit easier back then. :D

I would say make military tech levels progressively more expensive after tech level 51. (no concrete advantages after that level). It is not an ideal sollution, but could be simple to implement, is it not? I ended up with 300 troops and couple of ships (100% maintenance) for The Netherlands even without colonies.

I don't want to seem stupid, but can't you guys add tech levels that do give these bonuses.

The land.csv file can be edited and it seems to control the number of teches.

Possible practical solutions/explanations:
- add more tech levels but that have no effect
- deal with inflation after maxing out; that's what you get for being ahistorical! You deserve to be punished in some way.:p

There are two problems at work. 1. The inflation system makes no sense anyway. This is only one minor symptom of it. 2. There should be enough tech levels to cover the whole game. Have it go up to something that could never be achieved, like level 90, but have levels come much more slowly after level 60 and have the bonus be rather small like 3% or something, as suggested earlier.

I still think you could do this using that land.csv file. just add your own techs and see what happens.
