Unfortunately, I must inform you that Propheto|Mehran has been banned from the Newbie-game. For more information, see the Newbie-thread, post 845 - 874.

It is my firm recommendation that you should avoid playing with him.

I wish this wouldn´t be necessary, but my opinion is this kind of behaviour can´t be tolerated.

Whats he done? Is it grave enough to warrant creating a thread on the forum? You realize that he will have no chance at all to get better or behave better as you just blacklisted him :) (ok, changing his nick is obviously possible, but that is dishonourable!).

Ouch!

There's a lesson to be learned here, kids: If you're going to cheat, don't be so goddamned obvious about it! :D

Basetax 6d edited to 106d in a single province? That's a mite obvious. Now, if one were to subtly change several 3's to 5's ni a vast empire like Persia, who'd be the wiser?

My question to the threadstarter: How the HELL could he edit the save? Did he host?

oh  .

Sorry cobjor, it seems i didnt read through your post too well. It seems you have good evidence for your claim. I just dont understand why people would want to cheat in this game! It kind of kills the fun you can have with it...

Do you honestly believe someone who'd be so audacious as to cheat massively would be bothered by a name-change?

This is why vnet needs to use registered nicks.

(And preferably track IP's so we can avoid future Dild/Devil debacles :p )

No worries! Mehran also got a chance to explain himself but just said something like "I don´t know how to edit" in the thread. I also ICQ:ed him yesterday (he is/has been online), no answer.

Slargos: He hosted.

Cheating unfortunatley is even more rampant in HOI2 games where there are actually bugs in the game that allow for massive IC builds etc

This is incredibly hard to police, at least here with EU2 all you have to worry about is the host cheating ;)

Best thing we can all do is remember the guys name here and not invite anyone from vnet to join our games who seems the slightest bit suspicious :( Unfortunatley makes it even more difficult for newbie players to break into regular games as they will always be treated as potentially either a known cheat under a different name or someone who will cheat. :(

Yes these tremendous increases of tax values and numerous DP sliders moves are in a sense really stupid, since they become so apparent.

However, my guess is that like most criminals he started with small offences, very small, and when he did not get caught he increased the edits and when still no one detecting it he just through all caution away and went for massive edits.

Hrm, I even played some sessions against him when he was the host...

Besides, I do not think anyone wants to play Persia from around 1650 to 1750, or something like that. Those disintegration events etc (multiple ones) are IMO the 2nd worst in the whole game (after China) and when anyone plays China its events are always edited away. So in one sense he really deserved some edits to his nation... :D

To put him in Persia as host was the same as giving matches to a little kid playing on a dry summer's meadow.

Then it's not cheating, but merely exploiting a bug. Neither is acceptable to me, but there is still a huge difference between the two.

Elitist. :p

Now that you're in the "in" circle, you start slagging those in the "out" circle. Typical. :D :p

Indeed. Such behaviour is simply not acceptable. What is this, Melrose Place? Now, we must start a thread in which we not only complain about her elitist behaviour but also claim that she's a female chauvanist.

:p

Hilarious cheating, did he WANT to get caught?

I just dont get where the fun is in cheating in any game, especially one such as EU.

He must have low self confidence to feel the need to do this. I can only asume he needs the ego boost from winning by any means. Sad really...

I see you speak out of experience ;)

:p

Kiss my ass Hive :p

And since the HOI2 bug is so well known and documented and outlawed by every single MP group, anyone using it is in fact cheating. :( And it cannot be detected until the build is completed which takes over a year...

Well of course, if there's a rule stating that it's not allowed - it is indeed cheating to do so. But if there is no such rule, it's not cheating.

But eh... once you catch a cullprit doing this, you just kick the bastard and put him in a permanent blacklist. It's a 1-time hassle in exchange for a valuable lesson learned about not inviting that person again. :)
