Hello.
I wonder, the infrastructure has anything to do with the transport capacity? those numbers in the upper right corner of the map that are always something like 1500/3500, or such.
I m playing the 36 campaign on doomsday with germany on very easy, and I am running out of manpower in 1941, so i begun to build infrastructure and factories everywhere, and I wonder if the infrastructure is any good to build, or is it just a waste of time?
thanks.

Depending of your tech, industry may still take few YEARS to pay off, still better to make something than nothing though. You should transition into more manpower efficient units, like MOAR tanks and planes, at least if you still have oil.

Infrastructures are worth nearly nothing in HOI2 other than movement speed, but they do give a small IC and resource bonus in AoD.

TC is a direct proportion of IC time tech/ministry only.

i built some tanks, but honestly manpower is not an issue, on very easy it is, well, very easy. i got tanks, motorized divisions, and such. very few non-motorized infantry , mostly light tanks and no heavy tanks. and tons of engineering brigades, for the speed bonus.
i am building submarines in order to get to amerika, currently i am near irkutsk in russia, and i got bored.
tactical bombers... some cas. few fighters.
technology is industry-oriented so far. only got some good light tanks and self propelled artillery, as more advanced land units...
it is fun but not so much. i ll try on very hard maybe later, but i wanted it to be easy, in order to build industry, just to hasten a little the usual pathway i follow, like, france-britain-russia-amreica-china. but industry indeed is slow to grow, almost useless i guess.
and no, i dont have oil, i built a huge stockpile beffore war, like--- 400k, but i will eventually run out of oil, regardless of baku, irak persia and arabia and what little else i got from central russia. damn tanks.
thanks for your reply.

I believe infrastructure can be useful CONSIDER 1 level of infrastructure takes 3 months fo just 1 IC and if you are defending ie. russia at beginning of barbarossa, the increase in infrasture helps your defending units combat efficient THis is especialy in russia where infrastructure is generally low/ also helps your org regain air/sea land units and supply
HOWEVER - if the same cities are taken over by germany - they will then get the advantage

Regrettably, 1 infrastructure takes 360 days to complete (as per misc.txt) so the above analysis is incorrect.

Infrastructure is nearly worthless - it only helps movement speed (not SR time) so will only help if you are going to be playing a defensive game.

*IF* the starting infra is <30 AND there are resources in the province, then improving it to 30 will slightly increase resource production.

apologize for my error with the length of time to increase 1 level of infrastruture / you are indeed correct it takes approx 1 year = 1level increase

However even so ; does it not increase your unit ESE in a battle? i believe 100-infracture/2 etc AND yes russia is playing a defensive battle at the beginning of barbarossa

please consider sites such as lenijngrad, stanligrad moscow etc > extra infracture gives a advantage to the defender?

Reactions:
Yes - Infrastructure will improve ESE and therefore combat effectiveness but obviously if you are playing to win you won't be playing a defensive game very often.

Even if your plan (as the Soviet Union) is to give up border territories, it then makes it harder on the 'fightback' to take those territories due to the improved ESE of the (now German) defender.

Your IC is normally better spent anywhere else.

I admit I do build Infrastructure, but only as a 'roleplay' option.

so it is only good for the local movement speed? if so it is vastly useless. I built tons of infrastructure , on my late game, but only because at 1700 IC and no enemies in sight, I could afford it. And i got bored of bulding industries. I guess - in a real game, it is not ony useless but also damaging, to build it.
thanks a lot for your replies, i really did not know what to do to increase the ESE.

infrasture increases ESE

2 questions eg playing as russia ( but generally ) does antipartisan duty IN YOUR OWN NATIONAL provinces reduse partisan etc effects? and winter attrition IN your own national provinces have much effect to worry about CHEERS

Anti-Partisan duty in ANY province will reduce partisan activity, but once it is at 0% it can't go lower. As the Soviet Union, you should have 0% in those provinces anyway unless your dissent is exceptionally high.

No idea about winter attrition but I suspect the answer is yes but it is less than if it is not OWNED province.
