Just started playing CK again.

I was playing as the Kingdom of Jerusalem when my leader dies and the heir that I am playing now only controls a Duchy. It appears someone else inherited the Kingdom. I remember an event pop up a long time ago concerning succession amongst the nobles so I assume that this is the reason my it happened.

How to I change the laws of succession so I can continue playing as the Kingdom of Jerusalem whenever my leader dies?

That event you're talking about changed your ruling law to elective law, which means that the most powerful vassal will take control once your ruler dies. Once you regain your position as King, change your ruling law to primogeniture (oldest son inherits) or consanguinity (most powerful son inherits).

Remember to pick the 'salic' ones, since with 'semi-salic' children (those of your daughters) from other dynasties can also inherit your titles.
