Initializing installed game - doesn't work

Hi everyone,

I installed Stellaris from the Paradox Launcher v2 on my PC. Then I tried to launch Stellaris, but I first have to select the directory where I installed Stellaris. After selecting the "Stellaris" folder, it says 'Initializing installed game' for 2-3 seconds and it sends me back to the Paradox Lauchner v2 Main Screen.
Does anyone knows why this happens?

I also tried downloading and starting Stellaris from Steam, but after launching it, the Paradox Launcher v2 says: "Please wait while we fetch your games". How long does it takes? I assumed after 15 min it doesnt work.

Any help is welcomed

You should run the game from PLAY in Steam, not the standalone launcher desktop shortcut, which is intended for non-Steam users.

Can you start the game from stellaris.exe directly?

Ok, I get it. When I start stellaris from PLAY in Steam, the Paradox Launcher pops up and says: "Please wait while we fetch your games" and at right top corner it says "Logging in..." while loading. Nothing else happens then.

When I try to start stellaris.exe, the Stellaris Loading screen/Launch Logo appears, loads for about 2-3 seconds and then it disappears.
I guess I cannot start stellaris.exe directly.

You may have two unrelated problems here. Let's concentrate on the second one.


DXDIAG is a program you run from the Windows search box on the task bar. After running it will open a window and start collecting info with a progress bar in the lower-left corner. When it completes click the 'save all information' button and save it to a file then attach that file here.

Please attach here your Documents/Paradox Interactive/Stellaris/settings.txt and pdx_settings.txt .
From your Documents/Paradox Interactive/Stellaris/logs/ folder, attach here system.log , error.log , exceptions.log

AndrewT you are a legend!!! Thanks to you I found the problem.

I had the wrong path to my Documents folder. I changed the path of the Documents folder back to C:\ and now Stellaris works fine.
